If you could describe yourself, would you choose to say that you were “average” or “beautiful.” In Dove’s new campaign, the brand creates two pathways with these two labels and each woman has to decide which path to take. The film was shot in five major cities internationally and the perspectives that these women shared afterwards was pretty telling. According to Dove, 96% of women chose to describe themselves as “average” over “beautiful” in this experiment.

Early Monday morning Dove posted a new video depicting real beauty in sketch form. I was so moved by this video that I couldn’t wait to post it for you all to see. It nearly moved me to tears as I got a glimpse for how so many of us are critical of ourselves on a daily basis. Myself included! It’s just the way that society is, but we can change the way we see ourselves if we believe in what people see in us. Self-confidence is beautiful – remember that readers.
A former forensic artist for the San Jose police department met a series of women and asked each to describe the way they look. He had no way of seeing them behind a curtain. He prompted them to detail everything: hair length, facial structure, their most prominent features. He then sketched each participant from their self-description.

Chris Brown struggled through his tribute to Michael Jackson last night at the BET Awards. After dancing through Billie Jean, Remember the Time, and Smooth Criminal, Chris attempted to end the tribute by singing Man in the Mirror, but broke down into tears showing everyone just how vulnerable he was. Haven’t decided if I still feel bad for him or not. It must suck to know that everyone kind of hates you because you beat your girlfriend up and it went public and basically your career went down the drain. Stuff happens; sometimes you bounce back and sometimes you don’t.

Every year Teen Vogue asks their readers to choose the best products out of a number of categories ranging from best lip gloss to best foundation, to best lotion. I’m always interested in this list because I’m curious to see if the product I use made the cut. This year, one of them did and that is Dove’s Go Fresh body wash. Last year, I worked with Dove and The CW to promote their “Gossip Girl: Real NYC Stories Revealed” during Gossip Girl episodes and as a reward, they sent me their newly released Go Fresh body wash and soap, which I still have. It’s a big bottle alright? Anyways, I’m no longer working with them since the segment is over, but the product is really that great. It makes me smell like nectarines and white ginger all day. My words not theirs. Teen Vogue usually saves some room in their advertisey magazine for these results, but look! I have them already so here ya go:
So last week, Rocket XL and Dove sent me their new product to test out. I hadn’t really gotten around to it until today just because I was busy slash didn’t have time in the morning to really give this product its full attention. I received the Go Fresh! Nectarine & White Ginger in both bar soap and body wash form and tested out the body wash this morning. The scent completely woke me up! And not in a bad way. It was really refreshing and is great to use especially if you’re not really a morning person. It keeps my skin smooth and both the softness of it and scent have lasted with me throughout this entire busy day but most of all I guess I’m pretty obsessed with the scent.
It’s a newly released product and it’s really great, so readers, if you’re looking to change body washes or bar soap give this one a try =)
If you’ve been watching Gossip Girl lately, then you’ve probably seen the new segment during the commercial breaks called, Gossip Girl: Real NYC Stories Revealed. It is sponsored by the televsion series Gossip Girl themselves and Dove go fresh. The mini show it is about four real girls from New York City showing us the behind-the-scenes footage of their lavish lives.
Don’t get it twisted though, these four women did not just get their picture perfect lives handed to them, they actually worked hard to get to where they are today. This video strives to show viewers of the popular hit show, which is mainly young women, “to live life with a fresh perspective and inspire others to pursue their dreams as they juggle common life pressures such as careers, relationships, beauty, finances, family and friends.”
The four women featured are:
- Chrissie Miller: fashion designer and founder of the Sophomore apparel brand
- Faythallegra Coleman: emerging Brooklyn-based filmmaker and writer
- Dani Stahl: style director for Nylon magazine, jewelry designer and “IT” girl
- Lara Meiland-Shaw: co-founder of a Lara Hélène Bridal Atelier and philanthropist
In relation to the series, Dove has just released their go fresh Burst collection to their product line. It’s a mixture of tangerine and white ginger which is not only perfect for spring but is intended to spark energy and inspiration.
