The Weekend: 5 Things

ice cream

I hope all of you had such a wonderful 4th of July weekend. This past weekend had me incredibly spoiled with happy hours, dinners, friends, and family!   Can we have 4-day weekends all of the time? Kevin and I have been craving ice cream sandwiches like when we were kids so today  we contemplated at the grocery store whether or not we should buy a box of 12 or a box of 16. In the end, it didn’t really matter because we got what we wanted all along.

Seattle’s Outdoor Bars

Rumor has it that next week Seattle temperatures are supposed to reach the 90s! A rare treat for us locals. To celebrate, I would expect everyone to want to be out and about enjoying happy hour and drinks at some of the best patios this city has to offer. Thrillist compiled a list of places that I have yet to visit, but definitely plan on during this season. Another one of my favorites that didn’t make the cut is Joeys on Lake Union. But let’s be real, I’m going there for the bellinis more than the patio itself.

An Adult Milkshake

I once had a Black Forest Chocolate – Tini and to be honest? I didn’t love it. Maybe it was too much chocolate. Maybe I couldn’t adapt to the fact that I was having a sweet drink with alcohol in it. Whatever the case, I didn’t finish it and I’ve never looked back. However, hearing about an alcoholic milkshake is something that I think I could maybe get behind. There are several restaurants in the Seattle area serving them up and I wanna know… does it sound appealing to you?

Does alcohol belong in our classic favorites? Seattle Met Blogs have provided a few places where you can get your fix and I think I just might!

Currently Craving:

Pumpkin Spice Latte

At my old job, my routine involved grabbing myself one of these before I started the day. Now, I am somehow getting by without it! At least I know that I always have the option of making it myself if I wanted to.

10 Thoughts

  1. Guess what kind of face I made when I saw THIS for the first time?
  2. Today, I discovered my dream wedding dress is not within the range of my future wedding dress budget.
  3. Snickerdoodle Cupcakes. They exist. They’re mini! Only at Cafe de Russ, right?
  4. TLC spoils me with the wedding series… Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, and now I Found the Gown.
  5. Bellinis will be served at MY wedding.
  6. Throughout the summer, I have eaten at the Nordstrom Cafe for dinner nearly 5-6 times. Every time I have gone, there has always been the same elderly couple and today (after inquiring) my waiter told me that they come in almost every Friday. They are just as cute as I believed them to be and he orders breakfast for dinner and she orders the pasta. It was the sweetest thing.
  7. Courtney and I pulled over to watch some donkeys on the side of the road today on the way home.
  8. Lance Armstrong – bummer bro.
  9. There’s no point in saving money for the sake of just saving it. You should be saving with an intent to use it towards something that you really want whether it’s for yourself or for someone else. Sup v-ron.
  10. Chocolate Croissants will always be my most favorite pastry in the world.

Built For Man x Bako Event

I attended my first “fashion” event in Seattle the other evening celebrating a new line by “Built For Man!” The event took place at Bako on Capitol Hill and was publicized by Social Werks Communication. Since this was my first time attending one of these, I really had no idea what to expect. Michelle and I mingled with our friends nearby and took advantage of the complimentary drinks. I even sampled a few of the appetizers provided by Bako and they were extraordinary! Char siu pork? Keep it comin’ please! Every guest received a small gift certificate for attending the event to be used when they return and I cannot wait to use it.

Who Will Get the Pumpkin Spice Latte First?

Starting next week, Starbucks will introduce a new challenge to their fans on Facebook revolving around their popular seasonal drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Fans will compete to show how badly they want the drink to be released first in their city for the season and the winning city will receive the drink one week earlier than the rest of the world!

[The Facebook application] will include three different points-based activities. Beverage fans can earn points for city shout-outs, solving a daily challenge or making a daily creation.

A daily challenge might task a Facebook user to watch a video and answer trivia questions, Wheeler says. A daily creation, for instance, would have a user create and share a postcard for his or her city. “We’re providing the tools for users to create art and promote it,” Wheeler adds.

The contest will run from August 22nd-26th and the winning cities will receive the drink on August 30th.

A Collection Part 23

So it has been three months since my last “A Collection” post…These are my favorite posts and while they take forever to make, I honestly believe that the more time that goes by, the better these posts turn out to be. I made a promise to Veronica that I would have finished it three weeks ago and here it is. Better late than never.

This collection was created with the theme of being selfless. I never make up these themes beforehand. It is only when I can look through it as a whole that I begin to notice these patterns that arise out of the photographs. I am talking about the Japan Relief and TOMS’ One Day Without Shoes. Sometimes, giving back feels so much larger than us that we are overwhelmed by it, but there are much smaller ways to contribute. You can give back to the people you already know in even the simplest ways.
