“I didn’t have the tools to know how to do it the right way, how to let go the right way. I’d never been taught that … I have the strength [now] but I didn’t at the time… So, it got really messy, but I have learned a lot from that. And I’m not glad it happened, but I know why it did.”
I’m sorry. I don’t believe in justifications for cheating, and I definitely don’t believe the reasons that LeAnn Rimes is giving. For someone that claims that she is trying to put all of this behind her, you would think that she would stop talking to the press about this. Just because you weren’t taught not to cheat doesn’t mean you’re in the clear with what you did. There’s no book for this stuff and there’s no course. It’s simple ethics.
And since this is ethics, I’m going to dedicate this example to my professor.
“Is it still considered wrong to kick puppies if I wasn’t taught not to?”
Yes, yes it is.
