“Yesterday” Movie Trailer

I may offend some people with this statement, but I’ve never been a true Beatles fan growing up. It wasn’t in my wheelhouse and it wasn’t passed down to me by my family. I obviously have a great appreciation for the band and their music though. And I recognize how iconic they are. “Across the Universe” though never did it for me. It’s funny, isn’t it, how some bands and artists can mean the world to one person and not to the next. I think that band for me is actually Death Cab for Cutie. Do we think they’d ever get a film though?

I watched this movie trailer the other week for “Yesterday” and gravitated towards it pretty quickly. Actor Himesh Patel play Jack – a character who loves performing covers of The Beatles. One day he wakes up only to realize that The Beatles never existed. As he’s playing their songs to his friends and family, they believe them to be originals as opposed to covers. This picks up and he rises to stardom out of nowhere!

“Yesterday” is in theaters starting September 19th and stars actress Lily James and is directed by Danny Boyle. The film also boasts cameos from James Corden and Ed Sheeran.

Taylor Swift – “End Game” Music Video

For the first time in my life, my anticipation revolving around a Taylor Swift music video release was at an all time high. “End Game” is easily one of my favorite singles off of her album, which is crazy because I don’t even like Ed Sheeran, but I still find myself rapping his verse anyways. Another surprising revelation? I typically dislike any song where Taylor Swift is talking and singing at the same time, but I guess when it’s rapping and singing, it feels different to me. So I was around for the release because it was only 9PM PT after all and then I went on to watch the video four more times.

Long story short: I like the song better than the video itself, but I like this music video better than LWYMMD and Ready For It.

Let’s get into some other observations though:

  • Why is Taylor Swift partying in Miami, Tokyo, and London?
  • Also, this song references drinking quite a bit and she’s basically partying at every location – is drinking a new thing for her?
  • No Katy Perry even though it was rumored
  • The girl CAN DANCE now. I’m not saying it was a lot of movement, but enough for us to feel confident that she wasn’t as bad as she was several years ago.
  • Where can we get that pink toy video camera thing that appears in the “London” scene?
  • Taylor has completely upped her fashion game.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/129574704]

Wow, I have something really really special to share with you all today. I’ve known quite a few people from high school and college that have gotten married in the last few years, but not all of them have had a wedding video so when someone I know has one, I get very excited! Very recently, a college classmate of mine tied the knot with his fiance (now wife!) Monica and they have an AMAZING wedding video. Justin and Monica got married at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barabara which I’ve always seen featured on wedding blogs and looks even more beautiful in their video than in just photos! I haven’t decided which moment in this video is the sweetest – seeing our friend Anthony tear up while giving his speech or seeing Justin serenade Monica… you can’t hear the song from the wedding video, but in case you were wondering… – it’s Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” We’re hoping Justin will send us the professional video of this if/when it comes out. Another major MAJOR detail that I love about this wedding is Monica’s Lela Rose wedding dress. It’s absolutely stunning, isn’t it?

Justin and I shared a few mutual friends and even worked together very briefly when I was managing another classmate of ours’ singing career during my senior year. Justin backed her up on vocals I think, but mostly accompanied her on guitar. I mean he was a gem and it’s been a few years since I’ve seen him, but in watching this video I just felt so proud of the person he grew up into. Justin and Monica – I’m wishing you both endless years of happiness together and a very loving marriage.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014 Pt. 1

The special may have been filmed today, but we still have a whole week until the show debuts on our televisions! Luckily, we’ve been granted with some snapshots so there’s no way that we couldn’t share it. I know some girls really hate the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show because blah blah watching it makes girls feel bad about themselves and people feel like they should eat a burger, but no. You do you. Let the angels be who they are! They may be naturally skinny (they can’t help that!) or they just want to work out that much – whatever the case, we’re in no place to make assumptions or pass judgements. You should not let people that have different bodies from you make you feel bad. That’s just crazy. So just enjoy the show when it comes on next week – it’s all for entertainment anyways.
