Nobody loves a red carpet more than I do. (Well maybe Ryan and Giuliana) but I don’t mess around on award show days and Sunday afternoons with the red carpet have a special reservation in my day planner. However, while everyone is anticipating THE red carpet, I’m also getting ready for my second wave – the red carpet of the after parties. This is where some of the most daring looks of the night come out. We’ve been doing this post after the award shows red carpet for years so if you’ve been with us awhile, this is nothing new to you. Golden Globe Awards 2017

I spent a great deal of time today glued to my TV. Those hours of the red carpet and the actual award show aren’t hours that I can get back. My two takeaways? Well, I didn’t watch enough good movies in the last year and everyone that tried to pull off a long-sleeved dress this year on the red carpet failed. I did have a couple of favorite looks though and they came from those that surprised me! I always like doing this post the night of the award show so that people can have something to scroll through when morning comes around so with that here are my favorite looks as well as those that missed the mark.

I’m actually tired of this trend with dresses being one shouldered and have been for awhile, however, I love this color on Viola and she looks stunning. I also like that she decided to simplify both her and makeup so that the dress could just do its thing. The head-scratching moment of the night for this dress was when Ryan Seacrest asked her what color her dress was while everyone at home was like “um, can’t you tell what color this is?”

Very rarely am I ever impressed by anything SJP wears. She looks like a marshmallow in this gown and I’m not happy with the way she styled her hair. The only way this look could redeem itself is if it were sleeveless and her hair were let down.

2016 Met Gala Red Carpet

This is always one of our favorite events of the year and all today, I wanted to just continue refreshing Fashionista so that I could see the live coverage of all of the outfits. Instead, we worked. And every 45 minutes, we ended up refreshing, but then the days get ahead of us so now we’re playing catch up now. Here’s what we did see – we didn’t like Taylor’s outfit. Not one bit. We hated Selena’s boots. We weren’t surprised by Nicki Minaj and we loved Chloe Moretz and Bee Shaffer, but what else is new?! Now, let’s get to the coverage – it’s pretty much the post we’ve been waiting for all year long. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina. This also kind of hits home for us because well… you know, tech!

2016 Oscars After Party

This is my favorite because The Oscars red carpet tends to be very grand and conservative, but the after party is when things start to get a little bit sexier and you know all the stars that weren’t invited to the actual award show get to come out so that’s nice for them.

We HAD to kick this post off with Brie. Honestly, how could we not? Also, oh my goodness – is she wearing pink velvet? She not only was the best dressed of the night, but clearly the most comfortable the rest of the night. We just want to be friends with her.

73 Questions w/ Emily Ratajkowski

I really like this cheeky Vogue series that they’ve been doing with celebrities. It’s kind of nice to see them in a low-key intimate environment, but still allowing viewers to get to know them in a different setting than you would on a red carpet. I’ve been following Emily on Instagram for a little while now and I find her to be pretty fascinating. She’s come a long way from being “just the girl in the Robin Thicke music video” and I’m excited to see what’s next (especially since her last movie was a bust.)
