Fashion’s Night Out 2013 – Hiatus

After three years, Fashion’s Night Out is going on an indefinite hiatus. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event, Fashion’s Night Out is the one night in the year where consumers are invited to shop at some of their favorite retailers. Participating retailers extend their hours, hold events within their stores, and offer entertainment like delicious treats and indie music performances, while shoppers are expected to go nutz. Granted, we can shop any day – but why pass up on deals on deals on deals, right?!

Anyways, last year was my first time participating in Fashion’s Night Out and while I didn’t make it to the retailers, I did enjoy the fashion show down at Pacific Place. So why the sudden hiatus? Fashionista’s got the full scoop right here.

Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

4 years. Can you believe it? It’s surreal to me that I’ve kept Yow Yow! going for this long, but at the same time having Yow Yow! is also kind of like my very own personal diary. It’s kind of cool! I get to look back on some bad writing, some bad photos (or photos that are no longer photos) and some really embarrassing moments in history.

At the same time, I’ve also had the opportunity to witness AMAZING things in history. This year, Yow Yow! didn’t change much, but I did. I graduated from college y’all! As a small child, that day seems so far away – light years away! I’ve got my degree. I found myself a big girl job. I fled from Seattle – never thought that would happen either, but it had to someday. 2012 was good to me and 2013 (I hope) will be even better for us – me and Yow Yow!

So let’s get to the numbers, shall we?

Stats from 2011 will be on the right and italicized while stats from 2012 will be left and bold.

750,119 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – –  1,128,873+ (since the day isn’t over yet and this does not include up until New Year’s Eve) total visits to Yow Yow!

*In just 2012, there were 377,996+ visits to Yow Yow!

Fashion’s Night Out: Seattle Recap

Last week, thanks to The Downtown Seattle Association, Seattle Met Megazine, and Pacific Place, I was invited to the Fashion’s Night Out event “Downtown Rocks the Runway” fashion show. In the days leading up to the show, I wrote posts detailing the event and even launched a giveaway (my most successful one yet!) The entire experience was absolutely wonderful as it gave me a chance to network with other professionals in the industry and even other bloggers in the area.

This was the first fashion show I’d ever attended, but lets hope it is not the last. New York Fashion Week next year? Someday, I hope!

While I did not sample any of the food, I did hear that it was delicious and that the drinks were flowing throughout the evening. I did, however, come home with a snazzy gift back from the show that I still haven’t gone through entirely. Most importantly, I loved getting a first look at the trends for this upcoming fall season. The model above is wearing a fabulous dress, but she was also my favorite for the night! Who is this girl, really?!

Best walk award.

Fashion’s Night Out: Seattle Style Search

In addition to hosting the Downtown Seattle Rocks the Runway Event, this year’s Fashion’s Night Out sponsors will also encourage attendees to participate in their Seattle Style Search – a good old fashioned Scavenger Hunt featuring all of the retailers collaborating in this year’s event. Presented by Geoteaming and open to the public, the Seattle Style Search is a smart phone scavenger hunt that will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a download of the mobile app – goosechase from the android and iphones app stores. Fashion’s Night Out: Seattle

Earlier this week, I met with the Downtown Seattle Association and Seattle Met Magazine to discuss next week’s big Fashion’s Night Out event on Thursday, September 6th! Even though I’ve been reading about FNO since the event began back in 2009, this is the first time that I have ever gotten a first look at it or rather a behind-the-scenes look.

In previous years, Seattle and Bellevue retailers would host their own in-store events, but this year, the Downtown Seattle Association, Seattle Met Magazine, and Pacific Place are trying to create a more cohesive experience. In addition to in-store events, there will also be a spectacular runway show featuring all of this fall’s hottest trends held in the Pacific Place Atrium. The Downtown Seattle Rocks the Runway event will be from 5:30pm-9pm and feature a photo booth provided by Seattle Met Magazine and cocktails served in the lounges set for ticket holders to the show.

There will be 70 looks provided from downtown Seattle retailers including: Nordstrom, Macy’s, Mario’s, Barneys New York, Alhambra,  True Religion Brand Jeans, and many more with hair styled by 7 Salon and makeup by Gene Juarez Salons.

Tickets are going quick, but if you still want to snag yours, click here. The proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to O Wines Opportunity For Success Scholarship Program to help provide young women with college scholarships. It’s a great cause that I think we can all try and get behind through supporting fashion too!

Stay tuned to Yow Yow for more Fashion’s Night Out themed posts including fall trends, events happening that can’t be missed, and the new scavenger hunt!

Additionally: I am giving away a Pacific Place $50 gift card!

Whether you’ll be using it at Fashion’s Night Out or for another occasion, you don’t want to miss out! Pacific Place is home to some of my favorite retailers including J. Crew, Kate Spade, BCBG Max Azria, Club Monaco, and many more.

To enter, leave a comment here and tell me what item you’ll be splurging on for this fall! If you’ve got a picture of the item you’re talking about, send me a link!

Congratulations to Bethany!

It’s Fashion’s Night Out

And I will not be participating at all. A couple of weeks ago when the events were posted, I found myself getting a little excited over them envisioning myself making my little schedule and anticipating my first Fashion’s Night Out. Then I let the idea simmer a little bit during that time and when I thought about it some more, I became exhausted. Fashion’s Night Out first started in New York and has since spread itself over to every fashion capital in the world and even the Pacific Northwest. While I have to commend the event organizers for stretching themselves out to Seattle, I can’t help but feel that New York is still partying harder than we will be over here. Regardless, I’m sure the event will go on without me and be fabulous nonetheless so if you haven’t made your plans yet – start hitting those stores and find out what’s going on in your area.

Fashion’s Night Out Party Invite

Your host? Phillip Lim. You’re welcome.

Since I can’t be there myself, I thought I would share the invite with all of you! Phillip Lim is hosting a party for Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th to unveil beautiful portraits of Rashida Jones, Gia Coppola, Rachel Bilson, Joshua Jackson, and Selma Blair done by James Jean.

There will be free food on site by LA’s best food trucks and…

free tequila sponsored by Patron. Don’t get too schwasty though, this is not that kind of an event. Who knows you might meet someone very important and as we learned in the last post – you never want to be too drunk for any occasion [date or no date.]

The event is free and open to the public, but for more information just click here!
