A Collection Part 38

Happy Mid-September everyone!

It’s amazing how quickly this year has flown by. Even though I’m about to embark on my second year out of school, there’s a part of me that still wants to follow suit in that pattern. I started my first job at the start of fall one year ago and now one year later, I’m doing the same thing again. There was something about the new school year that I loved and it wasn’t just that I had a new set of classes, a new wardrobe, or that I was one step closer to starting THIS current life, but it was the idea of starting the year with a fresh slate – wiping everything clean, getting rid of the old and progressing towards the new. That might be one of the reasons why September is considered more of my new year than January. I always like to start Mondays with reflective posts (besides Wedding Mondays!) so here’s A Collection for you 🙂

Jesse and the Rippers on Late Night

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dor96YnM_qo]

Oh my gosh. Have mercy!

This actually happened last night and I completely forgot about it while I was out last night, but what a throwback! Danny Tanner and Aunt Becky were also present. Him playing the Full House theme song was such a sweet little tribute to my favorite show.

Jesse and the Rippers to Perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Say it isn’t so! Former dreamboat sitcom star Uncle Jesse will be performing with his band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, July 19th.

The group will appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, PEOPLE confirmed, after Stamos posted a cryptic Instagram video of himself singing the theme song to his beloved 90s sitcom.

“Never thought I’d be singing THIS song,” the actor wrote on Monday. And “Jesse Katsopolis” (a.k.a. @jesseandtheripp) has also been Tweeting in anticipation of the TV reunion.

“Have to dig this vest out of storage – may need soon,” Katsopolis Tweeted Monday with a vintage photo of himself in a black leather vest, replete with era-appropriate white sneakers. (The Twitter feed also features a trove of photos from the era, including outtakes from the “Forever” video, and hints at another performance as well.)

And to quote the iconic Jesse Katsopolis…have mercy.

Stephanie Tanner Dances to Hip Hop

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X3QYbrOpbU]

After being in San Francisco this past weekend, Jennie and I were definitely on a “Full House” high. Kevin just sent me over this video of a clip of Stephanie Tanner dancing back in the day to a Juicy J track “Bandz A Make Her Dance.” It’s so spot on it’s not even funny. Can you imagine if this were actually real though? Stephanie’s badass points would  be raised by 16 points.

“Girls’ Weekend” in San Francisco!

7

It isn’t often that I plan a vacation for myself. When I learned recently that my two friends Winny and Jennie were having a getaway to San Francisco this past weekend, I joined the trip last minute! We spent the weekend eating, shopping, exploring, and of course Instagramming our little hearts out. Growing up, I haven’t had too many opportunities to travel with my friends. The last time I did, it was also on a road trip to San Francisco. But it’s moments like these that I really treasure…being able to be an adult in another city. It was also Jennie’s first trip to SF so we were sure to hit all the spots! I feel really lucky to have traveled with these two ladies as they are not only dear friends of mine, but friends that I looked up to while in college. Click the cut for all of our adventures from start to finish.

Uncle Jesse x The Black Keys

Apparently John Stamos is kind of a musician in real life. Am I the only person who didn’t know this? I mean – don’t get me wrong – I was completely convinced during the Full House years, but after that series John Stamos and music never collided again. Imagine my surprise when I found out that he’d be collaborating with none other than The Black Keys on their latest album.

On their newest album, John Stamos will actually be playing the drums for the band. (MULTI-TALENTED!)

“We’re working with John Stamos,” Carney of the Keys said. “He’s actually performing the drums on our album.”

Thought Catalog Roundup

Commentary: Grammys 2012

  • Did anyone see Bruno Mars’ silly tantrum backstage after Adele won for best pop vocalist?
  • Chris Brown. Quit your lip synching or gtfo the stage.
  • I don’t think I could ever get sick of The Foo Fighters.
  • I actually enjoyed Dave Grohl’s speech and appreciate him for voicing his opinion, but  it’s a shame they cut him off…
  • I could’ve sworn I saw a twinkle in Mark Foster’s eye when he was singing The Beach Boys’ “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.” My heart melted because it felt like he was just singing straight to me.
  • John Legend grooving to The Beach Boys was also quite adorable.
  • The Beach Boys are looking and sounding pretty great for their age! It feels like just yesterday I was watching them on that one episode of Full House.
  • Nope Chris Brown, we don’t have to forgive you. The Grammy’s can put you in our faces all they want, but I’m not budging.
  • Even though it wasn’t well received, I loved Taylor Swift’s dress during her performance of “Mean.” Now if I could only find out who the designer was…
  • Neil Patrick Harris is a babe.
  • I am still amazed by Katy Perry every time I hear anything about her and her music. Does anyone remember the poor review I gave her nearly two years ago? She’s grown as an artist definitely, but I’m not taking back anything I said. Her new song has potential for being the new girl anthem of 2012 though.
  • Adele SLAYED w/ her performance!
  • Bon Iver for Best New Artist – YAY! Great speech.
  • Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston: Flawless
  • Nicki Minaj’s performance is not as family-friendly as I thought it would be. It was downright terrifying.
  • Adele is also the loveliest human being ever.  What a doll! She totally deserved all of her awards tonight.
  • (and none for Lady Gaga – sad day)

*************************************************************************************************

On an important related note, this HelloGiggles post about why people shouldn’t be okay with Chris Brown performing at the Grammy’s is quite insightful. I’ve had a similar opinion for awhile, but usually when I talk about that I make jabs at his performance and the more obvious scandal. This writer, however, has got some pretty solid facts and it is worth reading. And not to start something controversial, but the reason why that HelloGiggles post is mentioned on Yow Yow is so we can avoid things like this. It’s important for all of us to remember that there’s a border between a play on words or a play off pop culture, but this is not one of those times. It’s not cute anymore especially when it involves Chris Brown. Typing things like this out as a tweet is not the same as feeling the same way or wanting to be in that situation. Not being able to tell the difference between these things frightens me and makes me fear for the safety of other young women that have this notion in their head that it is okay to say these things.

Did Girl Talk Rip Off Girl Talk?!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTmZrJYF_DE&feature=player_embedded]

I was watching an episode of Full House just now when I noticed that her band name just happens to be the stage name of one of my favorite DJ’s – Gregg Gillis’s Girl Talk.

Is this coincidence or was this the root of the inspiration?
