2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet

Kathryn Newton in Valentino

I know it’s a little bit early to be saying this, but this might be my favorite red carpet set in a very long time. We are loving the color, the beautiful black gowns, and the off-the-shoulder looks. It was hard to narrow down my favorites and even as I’m thinking about it, I don’t know if I even can. We still have the upcoming Grammy’s and the Oscars, but this has set the bar high!

H&M X GIAMBATTISTA VALLI LOOKBOOK

I’ve been suspending my shopping habits for a bit, but in anticipation knowing that a big event is coming up. Every year, we’re on the hunt of a holiday party look and it’s something that I look forward to. I’ve never been able to reuse a look because there’s always a trend I’m excited about that I want to showcase. While the shopping has been on the back burner, now is the perfect time for pieces to come out and I’m ready. H&M is collaborating with Giambattista Valli and their full look book was just released this week. Here are a few of my favorite looks! Are any of them worthy for the holiday party? We shall see!

The collab will launch globally starting November 7th online and in select stores. For the full collection, click [here].

Giambattista Valli

I recognize that when couture shows come up, it’s not exactly everyone’s favorite collection. For one, they aren’t everyday wearable. Not everyone has an event that fits the mold for a couture gown. Additionally, not everyone can pull this look for. Even though I may never find myself owning a piece, let alone, even trying one on, there’s something exciting about it. Fashion was meant to be fun. It’s the epitome of what you think of when you get dressed up as a little kid in all of your mom’s clothes that are too big for you. My child-like eyes could not wait to have the height and the fashion of an adult woman. So as ridiculous as it is, if I ever had the opportunity, I would absolutely jump at it.

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet

Liza Koshy in Balmain

I had to look up the “Camp” theme several times to figure out what it truly meant. I’m still not quite sure if I understand the definition of it. My takeaway is that it’s pink, tulle, and crowns and we do not hate it. In all honesty, I’m a huge fan of the pink carpet and I loved many of the looks from the evening. However, I will say that this year was the most extravagant. What I loved about previous years was how wearable these looks have been and instead it’s turned into a little bit more of a spectacle than I would have liked. Maybe that’s what the point of the Met Gala is. It’s supposed to be a showcase of whimsey and imagination and if that’s the. case then I will get on board next year, but for now I want to hold onto what I thought made this event on the first Monday in May every year so special.
