Golden Gate Park Gains A Ferris Wheel

To celebrate Golden Gate Park’s 150th anniversary in 2020, the park will open up a ferris wheel. While I don’t spend a ton of time here, despite how close I am to it, this is a place where I could spend a full day at. Any time friends of mine come to visit, going to Golden Gate Park feels like a staple because of everything it has to offer – the Japanese Garden, museums, or even the Conservatory of Flowers. There isn’t a shortage of things to do here.

As touristy as a ferris wheel sometimes seems, I still love the novelty of it. To ride this one, you’ll have to fork up $18 so it better be good. The Ferris Wheel will stand at 120 feet tall which is as high as the observation deck at the De Young Museum. The ride itself will be about 12 minutes long and each carriage will hold 10 people.

Way Back – Hardly Strictly Blue Grass

This photo goes wayyyyy back all the way to fall this past October! Mandi and I had one of our usual hangouts and she had suggested that we check out the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival at Golden Gate Park. After two years of living in this area, I’d never checked it out, but a lot of people I had known had attended it every year. In comparison to most music festivals that I’ve been to, this one was probably, by far, the most chill. There were families around, no one was trying to push to the front, everyone was just on blankets. I also didn’t feel like any sense of urgency to do anything, which is great. I wasn’t sure what to wear to a bluegrass festival so I really just threw these things altogether, but the boots were both a good and bad choice. They were great because they were able to get really dusty, but bad because these aren’t exactly the easiest boots to walk in. I know you’ve all heard the story about how I snagged this find at a HUGE discount, but even still – for how much these boots cost normally, they should at least be walkable, am I right?

“Voted Best First Date”

Happy President’s Day! I’ve had such a great afternoon catching up on Yow Yow and completely (well 85%) turning off work. I also hope all of you had a very lovely Valentine’s Day. I’m totally stopping by my local Safeway tomorrow to see if there’s any candy on sale that I can snag for myself and my co-workers. Valentine’s Day weekend in San Francisco was absolutely stunning. It was 70’s all weekend and it’s February so we were really the lucky ones. I mentioned earlier this week that I whole-heartedly believe that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated by everyone and that it isn’t just for those that are in a coupling. So that’s exactly what I did. I totally took the opportunity to go all out and give my friend Vo a day that he would love. Upon picking him up at his place in the city, he arrived at the same time as I did on his bicycle and carrying a bouquet of flowers for me! I was a little bit surprised since I thought that I was planning this whole day, but the flowers are a nice touch and I would never turn down flowers.

From there, we drove over to the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park since we’d both never been there before. Did you know this place was voted “Best First Date” by the city or something? I don’t think I really agree, but whatever. For two, the admission is $16 and I’d say unless you’re really into flowers and all of that stuff, it might not be worth it because we got through the entire place in less than 30 minutes. We might have had a better time just sitting outside the conservatory surrounded by flowers on flowers on flowers. For dinner, I surprised Vo by making us drive over to Chinatown so that we could do a dim sum picnic in his living room! I forgot the blanket to perfect the setting, but I did remember the bottle of Riesling. Priorities. After we were stuffed, we watched a movie on Netflix called “Stuck in Love” which we thought was going to be pretty horrible, but it actually turned out to be much better than expected. I’ve included the trailer below. I hope you all had a great day celebrating however you did!

“Girls’ Weekend” in San Francisco!

7

It isn’t often that I plan a vacation for myself. When I learned recently that my two friends Winny and Jennie were having a getaway to San Francisco this past weekend, I joined the trip last minute! We spent the weekend eating, shopping, exploring, and of course Instagramming our little hearts out. Growing up, I haven’t had too many opportunities to travel with my friends. The last time I did, it was also on a road trip to San Francisco. But it’s moments like these that I really treasure…being able to be an adult in another city. It was also Jennie’s first trip to SF so we were sure to hit all the spots! I feel really lucky to have traveled with these two ladies as they are not only dear friends of mine, but friends that I looked up to while in college. Click the cut for all of our adventures from start to finish.
