Wedding Mondays

I thought that I was going to be done with my wedding season when I reached the end of March. I had a record of 2 in one month – a first time for me – but I was prepared for my wedding season to end just as it was beginning. Lo and behold, a month went by and I found myself being invited to one more. The first guy in my close group of guys friends is getting married in August and all of us could not be more excited for the big day. Wedding Mondays is a series that is hard for me to keep regular these days for a couple of reasons. 1) They require finding the perfect video 2) It’s not like a normal post where you can just toss in a video and send it off into the interwebs. Each video is special and it requires me to do a little bit of commentary every now and then.

I know this is a little controversial, but I am obsessed with black bridesmaids dresses. I’ve been thinking about these for the last year and am almost sure that I’ll end up making that same decision for myself in the future. The details in this wedding are just exquisite. The florals, the embroidered denim jackets… and can I just mentioned that I love the fact that the bride and groom did their first dance to “Alabama Shakes – I Found You?” It’s the perfect modern day song for a first dance at a wedding. This post doesn’t do this wedding any justice so please, please, please head on over to their feature over at [Green Wedding Shoes]

Wedding Mondays

Geneva | Jeremy from Grimace Films on Vimeo.

Since we haven’t done a Wedding Mondays in weeks, I thought I could do a solid by giving it to you one day early. I’ve been holding on to this special video for a whole month! The team behind this piece was the same group that did [Mandi and Eric’s] wedding video so they’ve really just become my favorites. Every time I see a wedding video from Grimace Films, I know that I won’t be disappointed. They do such an incredible job of capturing timeless and iconic moments throughout. For this one, it’s shots of her detailed headpiece, her beautiful beige dress, and that walk back down the aisle with just the two of them. Also, how fun did that after party look? Geneva and Jeremy seem like the most fun couple and we’re sure no guest of theirs could possibly have a bad time at that wedding.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/248063251]

Since we migrated the blog, I’ve been taking a break not only from Wedding Mondays, but posting entirely. Knowing that I would have to go back and change the formatting of some posts or re-learn how to use WordPress was extremely intimidating to me. Right now, I would say I’m on training wheels, but as the days go on, I’m starting to get more and more comfortable with the platform. Even though we’re close to Tuesday, I really wanted to post a Wedding Mondays video this evening. I’m about to head into my month of weddings with two of them in March – including the one for my best friend. I’ve never quite seen a video like this one and it was so soothing and relaxing to watch right before bed. Having just returned from Palm Springs and spending some time there in the last couple of years, I’m a huge fan of the desert weddings. Since the setting is so beautiful, there’s not much more that you need to add to it or DIY. It speaks so strongly on its own and is effortlessly gorgeous. I love everything about this wedding. Watch the video and then head on over to Green Wedding Shoes for their wedding feature.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/225923496]

I know it feels like we just waved goodbye to wedding season, but even in October I’m looking ahead to what I already have for next year. Next up? Two weddings in March – one of which I’m a bridesmaid! Honestly, I couldn’t be more thrilled, but this just means that we’ve always got weddings on the brain. I don’t hate it. You already know that. I especially don’t hate the wedding video that I’m sharing with you all today. When you’re reading a post about a wedding being featured on a wedding blog site, it typically follows a general layout. You start with a photo – it’s simple, it’s the venue or the decor, the shoes, or the invite. Then you get scroll down and get to see your first glimpses of the couple, the dress, the wedding party. You’re basically unraveling a story. As you get more and more into the details, you sort of hope there will be a video at the end tying it all together. Ugh, isn’t that just like the true beauty of a wedding video?

This one between Aften and Brian is so sweet. There are no verbal exchanges, but there is a lot happening here. It also doesn’t hurt that they featured one of my favorite songs – can you guess which of the four it is?!

Enjoy!

Wedding Mondays

Happy Monday morning everyone! I don’t believe that I’ve ever shared a wedding video from the team at Lalo Vargas before, but just a few seconds into watching the beginning of this, I knew we had to include it in our series. Since this was a Mexico destination wedding, you’ll see a few different scenes as part of the wedding weekend. I’ve been doing this series of Wedding Mondays for as long as I can remember. And just so you know, the whole interest in this from the beginning was always events. I was not that little girl that dreamt of her future wedding day when I was five like many might think. What caught my eye about this wedding though is that it was so elaborate, but authentic and genuine. Often times, you don’t see the whole wedding weekend. A few years ago, you didn’t even get a wedding weekend, you would have a day or an evening and that was it. I’m always going to be #teamweddingvideo and I love that this is a thing for our time. Yes, it does need to be something that gets budgeted, but it’s so worth it.

Anna Campbell’s Eternal Heart Collection

Of course I’ve thought about my future wedding dress. How many times have you seen me talk about that Johanna Johnson on Yow Yow! previously? The thing about this is that while I’ve thought about it, I know that my tastes can change. I used to want something very simple and loose fitting. Then I moved to wanting something lacy and a little bit more body fitting. Today, I find myself drawn to these beautifully embellished Anna Campbell gowns. Never have I ever pictured myself in something like this before because I’ve always found them to be too glam, but there is something so enchanting and regal about them. Something to note about this collection is that each piece comes with a customizable skirt so that you can make your wedding gown truly your own. Here are my favorites below:

Wedding Mondays

I just returned home yesterday after witnessing one of my very first friends from college marry the love of her life in Raleigh, North Carolina. And it only seemed right that you all would have a post from me today for Wedding Mondays. Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day! I’ve been saving this wedding video for some time. There are so elements that I love – the couple Peggie and Miles for their fun loving spirit, the fact that their wedding video is backed by Cults, and the decor. I’m nowhere near my own wedding day, but I know that I love greenery more than flowers and I love a lot of light and if that should include candles in my day – then so be it! I couldn’t embed the wedding video here, but you can watch it here on their feature by Green Wedding Shoes!

Wedding Mondays

Over time, keeping up with Wedding Mondays has become more and more challenging for several reasons. It takes some time to sift through the wedding blogs that I love to see if there are any videos featured in the posts from the previous week. Secondly, over time, my bar has gotten kind of high. The good thing is that hopefully we’re showcasing more wedding videos that you like or that are new to you and inspire you like they do for me. The hard part is that some weeks there aren’t any videos I want to feature. I’ve gotten to be okay with that over the years, but there’s a part of me that gets irritate when I can’t share something consistently every week.

All it took was a second. That first note in TRACE’s “Honey” and I was completely sucked in. Then came the desert shots and the personalized vows all set to the sounds of “Honey.” I was so glad that it wasn’t Walk the Moon or any other cliche wedding song because it just would have felt out of place. Hopefully, you’ll love this as much as I do!

Unfortunately, I can’t embed the video, but you can view it here and the rest of the feature on Green Wedding Shoes.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/198133600]

Happy Monday! I am so excited to share this wedding video with you all this morning because it just happens to be done by Grimace Films – the same videographers that also did Mandi and Eric’s wedding this past fall! From the looks of this wedding, you would have no idea that Talia and Tim had their original wedding venue fall through six months before their special day, but everything in the end turned out to be okay for them. Surrounded by their friends and family, the happy couple still had their dream wedding set in Palm Springs at the Colony Palms Hotel. Also, I’ve never seen a wedding that included synchronized swimmers as part of the entertainment, but I like being surprised by the features that I see. Watch the video above for all of the darling details and join in on Talia and Tim’s day of joy! For the full feature, visit Green Wedding Shoes.

Jennifer Behr’s Headpieces

You never forget the first wedding feature that you fell in love with. I was still in high school when I stumbled across Style Me Pretty for the first time, but it would be a few years later – in my senior year of college to be exact – that I would come across a feature that I would always remember and compare every wedding to. The bride wore a Johanna Johnson dress and a matching sparkling headpiece that I still envision in my dreams today. This was back in 2012, but even then, I was very confident that I might have a dress like Annie’s by Australian designer Johanna Johnson on my special day, but even more confident that I would have a similar headpiece. Even before seeing this wedding feature, wearing something on my head throughout my time of growing up has always been my thing. As a kid, I had headbands in every color. My mom got me into these. And in middle school? I would buy the thinner ones made of elastic or fabric from Wet Seal or Claire’s. And in college, I acquired so many tees from student events that I would cut a layer from the bottom of the shirts all the way around to wear a makeshift DIY headband across my forehead. So it’s settled. It is what it is and after seeing Jennifer Behr’s latest collection for fall, I can’t seem to stop thinking about how wonderful these would be.
