BAFTAs 2020 Red Carpet

Florence Pugh in Dries van Noten

I thought we were going to have a little bit of a break this week from award show season with the Super Bowl happening, but I was wrong! Sure, the British Academy Film Awards is not a US award show, but it does recognize nearly all of the other films that are nominated here in the states. This year’s red carpet is one of my favorites! Coincidentally enough, at the top of my list are a handful of all black gowns which I can’t wait to share with you below. Can any of you guess my favorites?

Grammy Awards 2020 Red Carpet

Lizzo wearing Atelier Versace

It’s bittersweet to be watching the red carpet this evening. With the news of Kobe and his daughter’s passing, it’s not surprising that celebrities want to get across the carpet without doing any interviews. Still, as everyone has been saying ‘the show must go on’ and while difficult, it’s turning out to be pretty great so far. Tonight, we’re highlighting look and tomorrow we’ll share our favorite performances including the tribute to Kobe.

2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet

Kathryn Newton in Valentino

I know it’s a little bit early to be saying this, but this might be my favorite red carpet set in a very long time. We are loving the color, the beautiful black gowns, and the off-the-shoulder looks. It was hard to narrow down my favorites and even as I’m thinking about it, I don’t know if I even can. We still have the upcoming Grammy’s and the Oscars, but this has set the bar high!

Emmy’s Red Carpet 2019

Zendaya in Vera Wang

Wow way to shut a red carpet down. After the game, I watched the red carpet on television and look after look, I continued to be underwhelmed. The show had begun and I still was refreshing different blogs to see if anything else would come in that would stun me. Halfway through the show was when we saw Zendaya. Channeling Poison Ivy vibes in this beautiful Vera Wang, she absolutely steals the show. After every award show, I always post my favorite 5-7 looks on Instagram Stories. This year, we only needed the one.

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet

Liza Koshy in Balmain

I had to look up the “Camp” theme several times to figure out what it truly meant. I’m still not quite sure if I understand the definition of it. My takeaway is that it’s pink, tulle, and crowns and we do not hate it. In all honesty, I’m a huge fan of the pink carpet and I loved many of the looks from the evening. However, I will say that this year was the most extravagant. What I loved about previous years was how wearable these looks have been and instead it’s turned into a little bit more of a spectacle than I would have liked. Maybe that’s what the point of the Met Gala is. It’s supposed to be a showcase of whimsey and imagination and if that’s the. case then I will get on board next year, but for now I want to hold onto what I thought made this event on the first Monday in May every year so special.

2019 Oscars After Parties

Gabrielle Union in Valentino

If you thought the red carpet was the main event, think again! Coming up, you’ll find looks that are a little more daring. The slits are higher, hemlines shorter, and everyone that wasn’t invited to the actual event shows up for the party. These looks were designed for the after parties and it’s something to get excited about! Many of the nominees arrive to the after party events in a second look! Like every year, this year’s event was no exception and everyone looked grand.

Readers, any standout favorites for y’all?

In The News… Companies Doing the Wrong Thing

We’re not even through the month yet and I continue to be frustrated with the type of news I see from companies and organizations that should know better. It’s the same old story. And I know I’m not the only one that feels this way. But when these pieces come out, it causes me to wonder a couple of things. Decisions aren’t made on the whim. Like many orgs, these decisions go up a chain of people for approval. This happens at startups and non-startups. The companies in question are massive organizations. Secondly, my next question is wondering who is in the room. How many people make these decisions and who do they represent? Because it’s clearly not their customers.

I could dive deeper into each piece, but it’s not worth the time – right now. For now, I want to put this out there and make it known and it’s likely we’ll have to circle back on this again. Here are the pieces in question:

Critics’ Choice Awards Red Carpet 2019

Charlize Theron in Givenchy

Where was the red carpet special today on E?! I waited around all afternoon for it to come and when it didn’t, I was forced to watch “Little Italy” on Amazon Prime instead. My assumption was that E! covered all red carpets for major award shows, but was this not as important for some reason? Does having it air on CW have anything to do with it? Whatever the reason is, I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to highlight some stunning looks this evening. I have less favorites in this batch than from the Golden Globes, but enough to have five main favorites that I’ll be sharing on my Instagram in a bit!

2019 Golden Globes Red Carpet

Our host and new Golden Globe winner, Sandra Oh, in Atelier Versace

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post all day, but I usually have to wait until the end of the show for all of the photos to come through. This year’s Golden Globes is special to me. As I get older, I have the opportunity to watch more of the films and shows being nominated than when I was a kid. I also am able to comprehend more of it. There are quite a few things that I’m particularly excited about this year. Sandra Oh was nominated and won and co-hosted the evening. Crazy Rich Asians was nominated and while they didn’t win, the nomination is huge. Lastly, the outfits on the red carpet were outstanding. As I was watching the red carpet today, I already knew it was going to be hard to choose just five best looks for later.

Jodie Comer in Ralph & Russo. Maybe my most favorite villain ever.
