Style Girlfriend

First off, it’s not even an app! I’m actually very intrigued by Style Girlfriend because I can’t even tell you how many of my guy friends ask me for style advice on a regular basis. Actually the last interaction that comes to mind is Tommy on a shopping trip and sending me photos of every shirt in a store.

“What do you think about this one?”

“Do we like this one?”

“How’s this?”

I think my response was… “Isn’t Leslie [your girlfried] right next to you?!

From now on, when my friends ask me for style advice, I might just direct them straight to Style Girlfriend. However, what kind of good friend would I be if I didn’t check this out for myself to make sure that this was legit? It’s likely that the next time someone has a question, we’ll ask together and make sure that whoever is typing on the other end has an answer that matches mine. For now, we think this is a pretty good idea!

Just In Time For Movember

I’m really happy with the blogs I try to read daily for inspiration on Yow Yow! As girly as Yow Yow! can get sometimes, I really enjoy having our dose of guy posts as well especially from Cool Material. They recently wrote a post for this product this week called Soft Goat which consists of three pads to soften and tone down the harshness of your facial hair. The hypoallergenic pad will round out the edges of your stubble without doing any harm to the skin underneath. Is this not perfect for Movember? Guys, consider your girls here. Get the Soft Goat.

I don’t have too many guy friends who will admit that they love dessert as much as women do. Really, when’s the last time you heard your guy order a Crème Brûlée without asking if you wanted dessert first? Exactly. Guys love dessert, but don’t feel like they can open up about it unless maybe it’s a masculine dessert. Cool Material is one of my favorite blogs for guys because it always provides me with a little bit of extra insight into what guys may be looking for in terms of food and products. I once favorited their post on a list of desserts just for men and now I wanted to share this one with you about a dessert product called PubCakes.

PubCakes is a set of dry cake mixes designed with specially made craft beer including Chocolate Stout, Belgian Spice, Cocoa Porter, and Vanilla Ale. YUM! Girls can have a bite of these cupcakes too, right?

Some Men Like Valentine’s Day

Like many little girls growing up, I always believed that Valentine’s Day was for the ladies! It was the one day that girls would acquire something sparkly, nibble into some chocolates, or even receive a bouquet of flowers. (This doesn’t happen in real life) For some reason, no one ever told me that guys  were getting something out of it too. Of course, as I grew up I knew better. I knew that if I were to ever celebrate Valentine’s Day that it wouldn’t be all about me and that I would treat the relationship as being mutual. It still bothers me to this day to watch reality television shows in which girls expect to be treated like princesses at all times. I’m looking at you Heidi Montag.

I’m pretty proud of myself that I can still believe that chivalry isn’t dead, but also that girls can split meals, ask a guy out on a date first, or even WHOA treat their guys out to a date sometimes. It’s what keeps things exciting, right?

The point of this is that Valentine’s Day is a celebration for both you AND your significant other so enjoy it and girls – allow yourself to do something nice for your guy (not just on V-day) but other days too.

The term Man Hands always has a negative connotation. As a girl, you never really want to hear that you have that and as a guy…well actually maybe that is a good thing. Anyways, this post is not about our physical hands. Man Hands is new line of soaps that smell like guy-ish things…

like beer, a baseball glove, bacon, bonfire, cash etc.

YES! Just wanted I always wanted my dream guy to smell like.

A Collection Part 32

This post is being released today because Veronica reminded me that I was overdue. Something you need to know: she asks for these posts often, but I usually don’t give in because I need to have a specific amount of photos for me to warrant a post. This time, she was right on the money hence…

Guys in Suits

Can I speak candidly here for a moment? Is that okay? Well, it is my blog after all so I guess I can do whatever I please, but I’m about to make a bold statement: There is nothing sexier than a guy in a suit. Those girls who prefer cowboys in cutoffs/sleeveless plaid shirts that shouldn’t be sleeveless, or those girls who prefer bros in bro tanks and neon shorts or swim trunks worn out of the water gtfo. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Please, for a second, let’s just appreciate a man in a suit. That tie clip, the skinny tie, the crisp fitted look of a suit that fits a man in all the right places. Now, how are you going to tell me that you are going to turn that down? Unless the personality underneath that is kind of douchey then maybe, but that might not be the case here. The other day I was having a conversation with someone who asked me if I was the type to work in a professional setting that preferred the pant/skirt suit or the business professional attire. And to be honest, I never thought I was going to be that kind of a girl, but after being in that environment for the past several months, I will say that I felt GOOD about the way I looked when I went to work. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I generally believe that you should always feel good about yourself on a daily basis – if not every minute of the day! I liked wearing my heels and walking up and down the streets of Seattle alongside other working professionals everyday. I endured the Seattle summer heat by wearing blazers paired with the rest of my outfits and I enjoyed making up new combinations with my colored cardigans and fitted skirts. You know what I realized though? That feeling is mutual. It’s not just me. It’s other working professionals and men alike – hence this blog. Guys in Suits.

Yes, it is easy to resort to sweats (I don’t. I prefer leggings, thanks)  or a t-shirt and jeans, but when someone has the opportunity to dress up, they will take it. Guys love dressing up. Anyone who says they don’t is a) lying, b) feeling insecure about admitting it or c) has not had the opportunity.

If you’re a guy who is a c) – you just gotta make it happen. Going to a bar and meeting up casually with friends? Suit up. Going nowhere important and think wearing a suit for daily activities is overdressing? Who cares, do it anyways.

I’m 24.

I hope my friends and I will have a sense of humor like this one in two years…or at least think that something like this is still funny.

A Collection Part 30

A Softer World

Happy spring readers! We’re long overdue for a Collection post so I thought I would leave you with one before I embark on the rest of my spring break venturing for the week. It’s definitely shorter than usual, but still packed with pretty pictures. I wanted to kick off this collection post with a comic from one of my favorite sites, A Softer World. Together, they are the perfect combination of beautiful photography and witty thoughts.
