Ciara in Stephane Rolland
Okay, we’ve been on the fence about Ciara for the last year, but there’s no doubting that this expecting mom is adorable on the red carpet.
Ariana Grande wearing Alexander Wang
I wasn’t paying too much attention to her performance, but was it just me or did she seem completely out of breath? Why was she biking so hard? Did she lip-sync at all? We’ve got a lot of questions.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
This is always one of our favorite events of the year and all today, I wanted to just continue refreshing Fashionista so that I could see the live coverage of all of the outfits. Instead, we worked. And every 45 minutes, we ended up refreshing, but then the days get ahead of us so now we’re playing catch up now. Here’s what we did see – we didn’t like Taylor’s outfit. Not one bit. We hated Selena’s boots. We weren’t surprised by Nicki Minaj and we loved Chloe Moretz and Bee Shaffer, but what else is new?! Now, let’s get to the coverage – it’s pretty much the post we’ve been waiting for all year long. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina. This also kind of hits home for us because well… you know, tech!
Taylor Swift in Louis Vuitton
Someone’s trying a little too hard, right?
Brie Larson in Monse
This is my favorite because The Oscars red carpet tends to be very grand and conservative, but the after party is when things start to get a little bit sexier and you know all the stars that weren’t invited to the actual award show get to come out so that’s nice for them.
We HAD to kick this post off with Brie. Honestly, how could we not? Also, oh my goodness – is she wearing pink velvet? She not only was the best dressed of the night, but clearly the most comfortable the rest of the night. We just want to be friends with her.

We already professed our love for this song earlier this week and now after seeing the music video, we love it even more! Hailee has really got a shot at making it with her singing career and we’re super excited!

I’ve got something really important to say about today’s Song of the Day. I was actually woken up by this song as my alarm sometime in the middle of the last week and I didn’t think much of it then because I was half asleep so I decided to give it a second chance when I was more awake. And to be honest, I haven’t stopped listening to it since. Do you all remember when I made a whole playlist for “Girl Anthems?” Well, this is the latest great addition!
A friend of mine just moved back to Cupertino after a hard break up so I’ve spent a lot of time with her lately watching her re-build herself back up again. We’ve all been there. Shoot – that was me just last year and while over half a year has gone by now, it’s hard to imagine that I am where I am now and that my friend will get to the point I’m at in just a few months’ time. I could spew out a bunch of cliches right now about how you never need another person to be happy with yourself or that friends are the ones who are always going to be there for you over a guy (but it’s true!) however, the most important cliche ever is the one that comes from my mom – that you can’t ever truly be happy in a relationship until you’re happy with yourself. She’s right.
Another anecdote: I was recently propositioned to move in with a friend who is looking to buy a house. I told someone that I could do that… and it would be an okay option, but I love myself too much. He laughed at me. And in my head I thought, but… no. I do. And you don’t really get what I’m saying. I love myself and not in the I’m “full of myself” kind of way. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m in my mid-twenties now or if it’s because I’ve just grown up a bit within the last few months, but I am for the first time in a long time feeling more confident and secure with myself more than ever about the things I enjoy and my interests and I don’t really need someone there to validate those things.
Hailee, we approve of you making the switch from an acting career to a singing career. Thanks for giving us women a very powerful anthem.
Zendaya Coleman in Fausto Puglisi
Wow, Balmain though was really havinga night with the celebrities especially since Kendall announced that they were going to be the next H&M collaboration! Zendaya looked amazing on the red carpet last night, but one of my biggest disappointments? That she was not interviewed by Giuliana for the E! Red Carpet show. The drama was heard ’round the world, but this was a huge missed opportunity for both parties to squash all of that and they didn’t. Leaving her out of the segment is now going to make people speculate a little bit I’m sure.
Anna Wintour in Chanel – she hosted the whole thang so she had to be first.
It killed me that I couldn’t post every look and have this ready to go for you all this morning! I was so excited to see some of the looks from the Met Gala yesterday evening and then a part of me knew that I would hate some looks as well. With the theme being, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” I was concerned that there would be jabs poked at stereotypes and Asian trends that would make me cringe. Of course there were, but like all things, we have to move on and not dwell on them. In the interest of saving time (and space!) I am choosing not to include looks that I felt were in poor taste.
Aaron Paul and Lauren Parsekian
Because sometimes the people that didn’t get invited to the actual event come out dressing better than ever!
