Balmain x Victoria’s Secret Preview

I was going to say earlier this week that this is the first time I’m seeing this much media coverage leading up to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It’s true, but now that we’ve reached the end of the week, I’m realizing that it’s half positive and half negative. Katy Perry (rumored to be performing) and Gigi Hadid along with several other models will no longer be present for the show. The reasons are…interesting, but I’ll let you look all of that up yourself!

Despite those hiccups, the show will go on and I’m still looking forward to it. This year, the brand is collaborating with Balmain and this is probably the segment that I’m most excited about. Just look at these wings on Jasmine Tookes made out of safety pins. Can we just… have these forever? I have been hearing that there’s a section of the show that will be more punk than ever and with this preview, I’m confident that I’m going to love the rest of the looks.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on CBS on November 28th. Stay tuned for a post featuring all of our favorite looks from it.

Emily Ratajkowski Launches Swimwear Label

For the first time ever, I’ve been thinking about swimsuit season in November. I have a good reason though. I’m headed to Palm Springs for New Year’s Eve this year – my first ever New Year’s Eve trip away from Seattle and I haven’t purchased a new swimsuit since 2016. I’ve been hitting up all my favorites including Beach Riot, but now it looks like I need to keep an eye on Emily Ratajkowski’s new swimsuit line – Inamorata Swim. Currently there are a few photos of inspo on the feed, but there are also a couple of her modeling what looks to be a part of her own line – a polka dotted one-piece (above) and an off-the-shoulder bikini.

It sounds like all will be revealed this week and we can’t wait to see the rest!

Nike’s Air Presto Ultra SI Black

I could be very happy with an all-black sneaker, but when the soles look like the freakin’ galaxy, oh my goodness. I love that these soles also match the laces which kind of pulls everything together for one cohesive look. Though they seem heavy in the photograph, these are actually light-weight and come with mesh, TPU, and water resistant panels to help keep these in great condition.

These are currently being sold on Feature for $135 USD.

Aesop in Chelsea, London

If you’ve ever stepped into an Aesop location, then you know that it is quite possibly one of the most beautifully designed storefronts in the retail world. I always remember the different locations I’ve been to – Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, San Jose – each never looking exactly the same. It’s such a fun experience to step into one. The brand recently set up shop in a new location – Chelsea, London and it’s just as chic as you would imagine. Both interior and design were inspired by the opening scenes in James Bond films and were brought to life in stores by Snøhetta.

The “Metallic” Pack

Don’t these just remind you of scales? When I was kid, I dreamed of being a mermaid just like Ariel. In in my college years when Veronica and I discovered a blanket and a sleeping bag that had a mermaid’s tail at the end of it, we knew I probably had to have it. But, were any of those items going to be as functional as a pair of sneaks? Like yes, but I’m trying to not make it to hard on myself to just express that I want these more. These Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 sneakers in “metallic” are stunners! My favorite is the silver (above) but it also comes in black and Anaconda Green.

These will be available for purchase online at Nike’s website and in various retailers very soon!

Museum of Ice Cream’s 4th City

After New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, what city could possibly be next? Well, I secretly hoped Seattle because nothing ever comes to Seattle, but it is actually going to be Miami! Did anyone see that coming? While I’ve never been, I have no doubts at all that the creators won’t turn their new location into something amazing. I’m thinking lots of bright and tropical colors for their themed rooms and a whole lot of flair. Even though they announced it this week, the museum will actually open in just a few weeks in time for the holiday season. It will officially open on December 13th with tickets becoming available November 17th at 11:00 AM EST. A limited number of tickets will be on sale November 14th though so if I were you, I’d set your calendars for that and make the 17th your back up date.

By the way, we totally went to the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco too, but just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet!

Everlane’s New Line of Puffers

There’s nothing I love more than a good puffer jacket. They are the ultimate cozy item and what I like the most is that they keep all of the warmth in while still being extremely lightweight. Everlane just announced that they were releasing their new line of puffer jackets and since I happened to be in Everlane just yesterday, I decided to try one out and walked around the store like I kind of already owned it. The closest thing I have to a puffer jacket is probably my Patagonia, but it’s not as puffy as I would have liked. The Everlane jacket brings that and provides extra coverage with the mock neck top.

Each jacket is filled with Primaloft, a military-tested insulation that is is both water-resistant and breathable. This material fills the lightweight, short and long styles which are made from a soft nylon.

Coming in four colors, the puffer jacket is available in navy, black, burgundy and “rose.” It ranges in price starting at $90 – $170. The jacket is available to everyone starting tomorrow!

KITH x adidas

Will we ever have enough millennial pink? At this point, probably not. These sneakers remind me of the Museum of Ice Cream. What I’m particularly excited about though is that this is a collaboration between KITH and adidas for UltraBOOST. The color itself was made to represent the Miami Flamingos soccer team, which is news to me, but we’re all for it! My favorite is the top only and not because I don’t love the color block below, but just because I could do without all the labeling.

Both pairs will be released tomorrow and will be available online at KITH and their shops beginning at 11:00AM EST.

Victoria Secret’s Latest Fantasy Bra

It’s almost that time of the year! I’ve been watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since it was first broadcast on television and while I am not a consumer of their brand specifically, I do enjoy the production of the show. It’s interesting to watch the evolution of it from when it started up until now. You’ll notice that things were more simpler then, but these days we’ve got very elaborate designs, props, performances, and the infamous “Fantasy Bra” – typically worth a ton of money and worn by one of Victoria Secret’s angels. This year, Lais Ribeiro will have that honor and this is the $2 million bra that she’ll be donning down the runway.

The 2017 Champagne Night Fantsy Bra features almost 6,000 precious gemstones, with everything from sapphires, blue topaz and diamonds, weighing more than 600 carats. Not only is the bra a work of art, but it took almost 350 hours to hand-make the piece.

Shoe Spotlight: PUMA Tsugi Blaze

After all the posts we’ve written on the many sneakers we’ve been lusting after the last few months, I figured it was finally time to create an actual series for it. Who knew that there could be so many variations of millennial pink in existence? What I love about this pair is the pink/white combo, but more importantly – these laces! The textures in the sneaker are also a main highlight for me. My very first pair of PUMA’s actually were partially suede so seeing these feels like I’m paying homage to them in some way. The asymmetrical look of the Tsugi Blaze make these such a versatile pair.

They are currently being sold on Titolo for $129.90

10-Year Old Boxer – Jesselyn Silva

I’ve been holding onto this video for months – five months to be exact. It’s one of the longest periods of time that I’ve ever held onto something that I have wanted to write about, but then didn’t actually write about right away. This past spring, I took some time to try and be more reflective with Yow Yow! The quick day-to-day posts keep us going, but the real gems are the ones where I might spend a couple of days or a week thinking about. I’ll outline and do some research. I’ll take the time to conduct an interview to support my message. I considered my own situation – how many aspects of my own life were changing and how this blog has evolved over eight years.

As a woman in 2017, there are a lot of things that get me riled up these days. They are a lot of things that may not have evoked much emotion in me in previous years, but now everything has come to the surface. I thought about the women in my life and how each of them had a story to tell and how each story was vastly different. I’m still hanging onto this idea. I want to empower those in my network to share their stories of strength, love, gratitude and more. This video was going to be the kickoff for that series. However, in the last couple of months, I’ve had a change of heart. There’s another voice that I want to shed light on on Yow Yow! and I want to focus on creating that next series.

That being said, Jesselyn’s video is awesome. I’ve held onto it for this long so it clearly means something to me and as a post to share with others. Enjoy!

A Metallic Nike Air Max 97 Ultra

For the last few months, we have been jotting down some of our favorite sneaker releases (mainly from Nike!) and while we think we’re going to take a plunge on one of them, another release always turns everything upside down. How is a girl supposed to decide when you’ve got all the hue of millennial pink?!

It’s a tough decision and the gist of this is – I’m not about to make a decision now. This metallic Nike Air Max 97 Ultra though is something out of a dream. Have you ever seen anything like this. I’m mesmerized by all of the maroon bands and imagine that it’s a pair that feels so smooth to the touch. The official color is “Metallic Mahogany” and you can swipe these from Titolo for $220 USD.

Lime Crime Inspired By Polly Pocket

THIS photo stopped me dead in my tracks. At first glance, I thought I was seeing my favorite childhood toy, but instead it’s a copy cat and it’s so good. I’ve never actually used cosmetics brand, Lime Crime, before, but their new packaging is genius and one that tugs at the heart strings a little bit (at least for me!) These shadows to highlight our eyes and cheeks come in three different flavors each with five shades.

After being released on September 19th, you can purchase one of these compact cases for $34 at their website. Now, if only these could come with our own mini Polly Pocket…!

KITH x Vogue’s 125th Anniversary

To celebrate Vogue Magazine’s 125th anniversary, the fashion magazine got together with KITH to put out a line of chic and colorful sweatshirts. If this gives you all of the 90’s feels, then your hunch is right. I know everyone loves a hoodie staple, but I can’t get enough of the crewneck sweatshirt style especially in these bright and fun colors. Each sweatshirt has a branded “Vogue” logo on the front and is made with french terry for the coziest and comfiest snug ever. Just in time for the fall season, you can purchase the five different kinds of crewnecks beginning September 4th and the hoodies beginning September 11th both online and in-stores.

Electric Rosé Wine Co. – Rosé-in-a-Pouch

Having read about canned wine for most of the year, I decided that a few weeks ago I would try my first can through Underwood. It wasn’t life changing, but it was a drinking experience unlike one I have ever had before. First off, I need to debunk one assumption – one can of wine does not equate to one can of beer. In fact, one can of wine is more like 2-2.5 glasses of wine and it will mess you up. The Underwood brand is quite good though. I’ve never had boxed wine, but now that I’ve had this, I don’t see any point in going back just cause.

To make things a little bit more exciting, Electric Rosé Wine Co. is providing us with another option with Rosé-in-a-Pouch and we are ALL for this. With packaging this cute, the pouch is giving us 90’s feels and reminding us of our favorite Capri Sun pouches. For every case that is sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Water2Wines dedicated to creating clean and sustainable water for those in the world needing it.
