Suzy Bae’s Wedding Look From “Start Up”

If you haven’t watched the finale of “Start-Up” by now, I am not to blame for spoilers. As we saw in one of the last shots from the series, our two leads, Nam Dosan and Seo Dalmi do get married after all! The camera pans across their wedding photos posted up in their workspaces at the company that they’ve successfully grown together. Said shots of the photos however glide pretty quickly across the screen so I’m grateful to now have a second look.

From my television, Dalmi’s wedding dress seemed simple and understated. These photos, however, tell a different story. It’s the first time I’m noticing her dainty crown and these petal sleeves. I like to think that I followed the wedding trends pretty closely every year, but these sleeves aren’t like anything I’ve ever seen before. Designed by British label [Safiyaa], the [Dara Ivory Long Dress] retails for $1,799 USD.

Honestly, we love this look for Suzy! Now comes the hard part of not actually shipping our favorite k-drama couples in real life.

Bubblegum Pink

It has been more than a few years since I last bought a pair of Dunks, but these caught my eye so quick! Immediately, this took me back to summers with the ice cream truck and getting that baseball mitt ice cream in the same exact hue. As much as I wish this were inspired by my favorite ice cream, it was actually influenced by the “Pink Pig” Porsche 917/20 that debuted in 1971 at the 39th Grand Prix of Endurance.

The sneaker itself is made of suede, but detailed with red stitching. To give it a more classic feel, white and black are used for the soles. Currently, there is no official release date yet, but we can expect these will be out sometime in 2021. Don’t you just miss buying and wearing shoes out of the house?

Pantone Names Two Colors of the Year for 2021

It has been a tough 2020 so why not name two colors for the following year? Some may consider it an interesting combo, but “Illuminating” and “Ultimate Gray” compliment each other.

“Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power,” describes Pantone, adding that it fills people with optimistic promise of a sunshine-filled day. “Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colors of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience.”

“Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit,” describes Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

I love the rationale behind how these colors were selected. If I’m being honest, I didn’t always see the meaning in these types of decisions. Instead, I saw it as the color being selected and how this would drive future trends in fashion and design for the following year. Nothing beyond that. As we near the end of 2020, I hope they’re right! Hopefully these colors will inspire a better and stronger year for all of us.

For Style and Self Defense – Knockout

As women, we’ve learned early on that we’re asking for trouble if we’re walking alone at night. That for some reason in life, we are delicate beings and that a man’s actions may not always result in consequences. I’d love for this part of the word to change, but until then, we’ll have to take matters into our own hands. Some of us carry pepper spray in our purses while others clench keys into their fists. Today, there is another alternative by Kate Davis and it’s both fashionable and functional.

[Knockout] is a new jewelry brand that you can both accessorize with and that will come in handy for those unsafe moments. However, we’re all praying that we never have to rely on these for that. Made out of lucite and metal, these rings have edges so sharp that they can do some harm to an attacker. While the brand isn’t marketed to be a self defense tool, Davis launched these rings with this in consideration.

A Bready Croissant Lamp

I’m 100% positive that I’m too old to be needing a night lamp, both in terms of age and what I would need to fall asleep. However, when I come across designs like these, I can’t help myself! They are so cute and I figured if I can’t buy it myself, maybe it will find itself into the home of someone who will need it. Pampshade is a Japanese homeware brand and with their new creation, they’ve outdone themselves. Their new series of mini croissant lamps are made from real bread. First question: how?

Made at Liberté bakery in Kyoto, the pink, raspberry-flavored creations are handmade by Pampshade founder and baker Yukiko Morita. Though the lamps look good enough to eat, please don’t — they’re coated in anti-bacterial and anti-fungal resin. Stamped with Daphinette’s logo on the bottom, the battery-powered LED light makes a delicious topper for a nightstand or side table. “We are extremely excited to be bringing these joyful (and timely, if I do say so myself!) little objects to people’s homes in time for the holiday and cozy winter months,” Dauphinette designer Olivia Cheng said.

The explanation itself doesn’t exactly share how the “bread” is involved, but I’m okay with a little mystery! For your own mini croissant lamp ($120), you can submit your pre-order [here].

Uniqlo x Marimekko

I was not born to be a print person. Bright colors and bold prints are outside of my comfort zone, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a deep appreciation for them. I actually admire those that can pull it off or choose to wear this style regardless of whether or not it’s working. This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve posted about Marimekko. For the upcoming limited holiday collection, they’ve partnered with Uniqlo for some pretty perfect December pieces. From this collection, you can expect the bold print, bright colorways and a range of textures.

Speaking on the collection, Head of R&D at Uniqlo, Yuki Katsuta said this about the release, “Themed ‘Joyful Together,’ our new collection combines the signature simplicity of UNIQLO apparel with Marimekko’s warm and spirited prints to celebrate togetherness at this special time of year. We hope people everywhere will feel comfortable and at ease in the new line.”

Does this have Charlie Brown vibes to you?

Not Your Ordinary Colorway

Nike describes their latest Air Max Up to be a black and white iteration, but isn’t it so much more than that? Here I see white, black, light lavender, leather, and a piece that is translucent. Honestly, this colorway is something out of the future and while this isn’t my usual taste, I like it. Somehow I’m captivated by its weird clearness on the heel and the fact that the swoosh is partially done. I recently thought maybe I’d pick up running after buying a new pair of Zella leggings so athletic footwear has become top of mind again. For a pair of your very own, you can shop these on [Titolo] for a cool price of $201.30 USD.

Away Announces First Sale Ever

It has been a strange year for the luggage brand that couldn’t seem to escape their own internal scandals. While traveling is at a low right now, Away doesn’t want you to forget that they still exist. And they’re doing you a solid by offering their first ever sale with luggages being sold at up to 50% off. Products that will be a part of the sale will range in a variety of sizes and colorways. If you’ve had your eye on a piece for years, now is your chance, because it might not be likely a sale will happen ever again! You may not be able to travel the way you’re used to, but at least thing you’ll be prepared and ready for your next trip.
