BLACKPINK – Ice Cream ft. Selena Gomez

After falling in love with BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That,” I had high expectations for Ice Cream. I was curious about how their collaboration with Selena Gomez would look like and from the teasers, I could tell the visuals would be amazing. In a way, it was what I expected, but not what I expected. It rivaled BTS’ “Dynamite” in that it’s a late summer bop and had a similar color scheme. Obviously BLACKPINK had a little bit more pink in it. But I didn’t find myself singing along to the song like I did with How You Like That. I also didn’t feel the need to watch the video more than once unlike how I watched “Dynamite” 10x in a row for no reason at all.

I haven’t looked into any reviews of the single just yet and I also could be very wrong about my perception of the song. Whatever the case, I thought we should share and you all can make your own minds up about it. I’m just disappointed because it definitely feels more like a Selena track than BLACKPINK and it’s supposed to be the other way around.

Thanksgiving Themed Ice Cream Flavors

Buttered Mashed Potatoes & Gravy

When Elynn was up in the city recently, we stopped by the new Salt & Straw location in Hayes Valley for what seemed like a pretty soft opening for them. I could be happy with just about any flavor there, but know that they’re also a shop that likes to push the boundaries a little bit. While we were there, I noticed that they had a very special Thanksgiving menu up and while I love almost all Thanksgiving dishes, I didn’t know how well it would translate into ice cream. Would it actually taste good or would it just be a little bit weird? Being the stuffing fan that I am, I opted to try a sample. What’s the best way to describe it? Well, you know how some people enjoy sweet breakfasts or savory? It’s kind of like that. I didn’t mind the flavors and actually thought their rendition was pretty spot on, but at the end of the day, I wanted something that tasted like ice cream and went for my standard coffee – Salt & Straw style.

These flavors will be available until November 22nd so make sure you try them before time runs out! They’ll be available at both their locations in Pacific Heights and Hayes Valley Read more “Thanksgiving Themed Ice Cream Flavors”

National Ice Cream Month

Since I’ve moved to California, I am almost certain that I have consumed 80% more ice cream than I ever did in Seattle. Especially since it is National Ice Cream month, I’ve been having it on a regular weekly basis. It doesn’t help that there just happens to always be a shop nearby. My friend Sheila recently introduced me to what is one of the most bizarre flavors I have ever tried. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s the best flavor I’ve ever had, but it is definitely intriguing enough that you would eat it until the very last bite. I believe she told me that the cereal milk ice cream that she either made herself or purchased was inspired by Momofuku. To really up your taste game, be sure to include cereal with it! Duh, right? I think when I had it, Sheila offered me corn flakes, but this cinnamon toast crunch pictured above looks like a game changer.

Spaghetti Ice Cream

When I first saw this, the first thing that came to mind was that play-doh maker that gave that creepy head crazy hair that you could either make super long or cut if you pleased. …The things they make for children. Anyways, now there is an actual maker that you can put your ice cream into so you can make it look like spaghetti noodles. What purpose does this serve? You got me. These makers cost anywhere from $12-22.
