The Home Of Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock

When two perfectly polished fashion designers couple up (and shack up) you can pretty much expect that every aspect of their life is going to be a designer’s dream. GQ recently featured the home of Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock of Shipley & Halmos and Vena Cava, respectively. Not only are these two my style icons and the most fashionable couple I’ve ever laid eyes on, but they are so very much in love and what do I love more than love? Um. Nothing.

During their last visit to Seattle two weeks ago, designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, set up shop in the downtown Seattle Nordstrom to sketch out some of the locals. Check out the rest of Sam’s handy work on their blog Numerous Drawings.

Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock Living In Style

I think by now we are all aware of who my favorite style icons are in the fashion industry, but hands down – the title for my favorite couple in the industry belongs to Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock. Jeff Halmos is one half of Shipley & Halmos and Lisa Mayock is one half of Vena Cava; both just happen to produce some of my favorite collections! I’ve  had a soft spot for S&H ever since Jeanette and I had the opportunity to meet them last summer and partake in their photography project and I have adored Vena Cava’s since they hosted an online garage sale last summer featuring some of their own personal items. Should have snagged those oversized sunglasses when I had the chance. Together, the two of them are sensational. The couple recently invited The Coveteur into their home and the photographs were so stinkin’ cute, they made my stomach hurt a little bit. When this fashion power couple gets married, they will rule everything. Click here to take a peek inside their adorable home.

Mystery Flower Seeds

It’s no secret that Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos are two of my favorite designers. I suppose I’ve taken a liking to them ever since I met them last year at Barney’s. Aside from being designers, the duo also like to sell quirky knick-knacks and draw characters at their blawg Numerous Drawings. I’ve mentioned Numerous Drawings in the past so today I kind of want to focus on their shop Things! where they have recently started selling these Mystery Flower Seeds. I’m not quite sure which flowers they will produce, but I guess that’s the fun part right? Buy them for yourself or buy them for a friend because they are only $3.99.

Advice from the Fashion Industry’s Power Couple

(that I didn’t even know were a couple until now)

Lisa Mayock makes up one half of Vena Cava and Jeff Halmos makes up one half of Shipley & Halmos. In a new post by Details, the beautiful couple shares their advice on lifestyle, fashion, traveling, etc.

I’m embarrassed that I am now finding out that they’ve been together all along, but thrilled about this post because they just happen to be the co-creators of two of my favorite brands.

Trust.

My Favorite Hipsters

Ever since Dov Charney announced the hipster era was “out” several months ago, I became concerned. As a part-time hipster, I guess I don’t really understand how it can go out of style. Being a hipster is not just about the fashion or the music. It is a culture. It is a way of living.

Okay, who are we kidding? While I accept the hipster lifestyle, there’s still something about it that makes me giggle. I actually am amused by the hipster culture. While the rest of the world slash the bros at my school find that it is something to joke about, you’d be surprised at how ahead of the game they are. Hipsters all over have paved the way for various trends that began years ago, but are just now turning mainstream as described in a recent Flavorwire post. When I think of this, I am reminded of the scene from The Devil Wears Prada when Miranda puts Andy in her place by telling her that her retail store sweater was hand picked for her by the people in that room because they made that sweater what it was. I know that that movie has nothing to do with hipsters, but all you need to know is that the hipsters ARE Miranda.

Below are some of my favorite hipsters of our time today:

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has been a bad ass ever since she made her acting debut back in 1994 with The Professional. Since then, she has blown us away with her acting abilities and even her rapping skills. She may have portrayed hipster-ish character Sam in Garden State, but we know that she’s a true one at heart. Natalie is a Harvard grad, vegetarian, and an activist!

Shipley & Halmos “We’re An American _____”

This past summer, my best friend Jeanette and I ventured down to Barneys in Seattle for our chance to meet designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos. It was such a great experience! While it was exciting for us to meet the designers, the best part was actually getting photographed by them for a chance to be featured in their new book “We’re An American ______

Over the course of a few weeks, Shipley & Halmos embarked on a road trip visiting Seattle, Austin, Philly, DC, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Boston, Houston, Georgetown, and a whole slew of other cities along the way. Camera in hand, the two were out to capture character and personality. While this can typically be found instantly in someone’s outfit (from a fashion standpoint,) this was the opposite of what they were looking for. Instead, the 80-page book features only portraits.

The book is now available for $40 here.
