I Watched Bachelorette Last Night

and I loved it. Apparently, it was supposed to be a lot like Bridesmaids, but I wouldn’t know because I’ve never seen it. And I probably won’t for awhile because I just can’t stand Kristen Wiig. Anyways, Bachelorette was witty, girly, snarky, and hilarious. Within the first five minutes of the movie, my best friends and I established that I was Isla Fisher’s character in several more years so every moment after that was just envisioned with me in mind.

Also, it’s a movie about a wedding. I’m bound to like it, right? We somehow managed to watch this movie on my friend’s OnDemand and I don’t even think it’s fully released yet. Things like this are awesome. Here’s the trailer below.

Kirsten Dunst for C Magazine

Have any of you guys seen Melancholia yet? I just watched it over the weekend with my family and although it’s a pretty slow movie, it is absolutely beautiful. Kirsten Dunst has always been a favorite of mine since the Bring it On, Drop Dead Gorgeous days, and this film continues to prove that she is a dynamic actress with varying layers. These photographs of her in C Magazine are stunning.

Kirsten Dunst Doesn’t Like Her Label

Call them hipster or call them indie, but at the end of the day, their formal name is the “Manic Pixie Dream Girl.” For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, a manic pixie dream girl is that girl in a film who is cute, bubbly and full of surprises. She’s a little kooky, but you love her for that and so do the male leads. They are the ones who are drawn to them the most and by the end of the movie, the guys have a completely new perspective on life. That’s right – the manic pixie dream girls are magical. On the other hand, women are the ones at the end of the movie questioning if they have to be more manic to get the guy.

Maybe you’ve heard of them…

  • Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown
  • Zooey Deschanel in 500 Days of Summer
  • Natalie Portman in Garden State

Yada yada yada you get the idea. The full list is here!

Anyways, Moviefone published an article earlier this week about the time they interviewed Kirsten Dunst and asked her if she was aware that she was a manic pixie dream girl. Turns out the actress didn’t really know too much about it and she learned what it was, she was not amused. Regardless, the interview is still uncomfortably entertaining. Read it here.
