Out on the Town: 4/26

I only know this piece of information from listening to my wake up call from KISS 106.1 this morning.

Tonight Tyler Hilton and my old favorite band The Spill Canvas will be performing at El Corazon. Joining them will be AM Taxi and New Politics. Remember Tyler Hilton? He sang that one song, “When It Comes…” Don’t take that the wrong way. He also appeared on more than a few episodes of One Tree Hill and everyone basically hated him.

Out on the Town: 4/9

My new favorite Seattle band, Fairline, will be performing this Friday at the Q Cafe with/ Washington Mile’s, Spencer Abbott and The Rumours of War.

Doors are at 7:30 Show is at 8pm Cost is $8

I love Fairline. There’s something so secretive about this band that has me very curious. They’ve only been out in the musical world for a little over two months. They only have one song on their MySpace, but it’s good. Damn good. They’ve been on KISS 106.1 , but I don’t know if their song is on the radio just yet. They are spotted around Seattle at local coffee shops – but yet everything seems to be a little bit mysterious…

Deck the Hall Ball 09

Thank you 107.7 THE END for reminding us that Seattle music festivals don’t have to suck and also don’t have to be super scene wannabe either (cough cough KISS 106.1)

Your lineup is amazing and I would like to applaud you.

Get ’em MUSE! (headliner) and who else…?

Jingle Bell Bash

Every year, KISS 106.1 hosts Jingle Bell Bash and usually you can expect the typical mainstream artists that they always play on the radio. It’s become a little bit predictable when you see Fall Out Boy, The Pussycat Dolls, The Jonas Brothers and Natasha Bedingfield on a lineup

This year, KISS 106.1 has become… what’s the word…scene? It’s not quite mainstream completely, but they’ve chosen a lineup of bands that to the rest of the world might all sound similar. I know they’re not only because I’ve been listening to these bands for quite some time, but what is their  fan base going to think when they see no hip hop? They could’ve been expecting Lady Gaga, Jay Sean, or that adorable 15-year old Justin Beiber.

So who did KISS 106.1 choose for this year?

Song of the Day

Paramore – Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover)

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXk_KVNfInU]

Everyone knows I’ve always been a fan of Hayley Williams. This is no different. I’d also like to say that while I’m glad Kings of Leon are finally being recognized more in the public eye, this is also nothing new. The band has been around for awhile, but many people didn’t hear about them until MTV had them perform at one of their award shows (which was random) and when they showed up on your radio (cough cough KISS 106.1) gtfo of here.

My old co-worker Jared Jeigh was the first one to introduce to me to them and their music when I was 16. Yeah, they didn’t just come out of nowhere.
