2017 Emmys Red Carpet

Millie Bobby Brown wearing Calvin Klein

Whenever I get the chance, I always try to watch the earlier showing of the Emmys. How is this thing still three hours long? For the first time in a long time, I actually stayed pretty quiet on social media this time around. We didn’t live tweet the red carpet this year – mainly because I was still watching the Seahawks game during it and we didn’t tweet during the show. Overall, I think the show had a slow start. Stephen Colbert was okay as a host, but the biggest takeaway for me tonight was all of the people recognized. The most exciting part of the awards show was being able to celebrate a more diverse group of winners than ever before. What did everyone else think?

Looks looks and more looks below!

Golden Globe Awards 2017

Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection

I spent a great deal of time today glued to my TV. Those hours of the red carpet and the actual award show aren’t hours that I can get back. My two takeaways? Well, I didn’t watch enough good movies in the last year and everyone that tried to pull off a long-sleeved dress this year on the red carpet failed. I did have a couple of favorite looks though and they came from those that surprised me! I always like doing this post the night of the award show so that people can have something to scroll through when morning comes around so with that here are my favorite looks as well as those that missed the mark.

I’m actually tired of this trend with dresses being one shouldered and have been for awhile, however, I love this color on Viola and she looks stunning. I also like that she decided to simplify both her and makeup so that the dress could just do its thing. The head-scratching moment of the night for this dress was when Ryan Seacrest asked her what color her dress was while everyone at home was like “um, can’t you tell what color this is?”

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Vera Wang

Very rarely am I ever impressed by anything SJP wears. She looks like a marshmallow in this gown and I’m not happy with the way she styled her hair. The only way this look could redeem itself is if it were sleeveless and her hair were let down.

Louise Roe Named Editor-At-Large At Glamour

photo cred | InStyle

One of my favorite style icons (next to Alexa Chung of course) has been named the Fashion Editor-At-Large at Glamour Magazine. Louise Roe, who is originally from across the pond, has been making a name for herself in the last couple of years first appearing on The City as Olivia Palermo’s “nemesis” at Elle and then as the host of her own CW makeover television series, Plain Jane. I actually really loved Plain Jane when I caught up with the show earlier this year, but it didn’t pick up that much steam over here in the states. I hear that is is pretty successful in the UK though.

Congratulations Louise! I can’t wait to see how you put your own spin on things over at Glamour.

Emmys Arrivals 2011

Lea Michele in Marchesa

She may be blending in with the red carpet, but this dress is stunning on her! The back also has a very elegant scoop, which is not shown in the photo, but is totally worth looking up.

Old Reruns

I can’t believe I waited a whole year to pass to finally watch Louise Roe’s television series Plain Jane. There were only six episodes to the series last summer, but ugh – this is the kind of show that warms my heart. As always, I’m a huge sucker for makeover shows that have a romantic plot. Basically, my favorite style icon Louise Roe plays host as she chooses one “Plain Jane” to make over and guide in style and confidence to ultimately end up getting the boy she wants to be “more than friends” with. Tonight’s “Jane” – whose real name is Christen – revealed her feelings for her guy friend of six years who actually confessed that he, too, had had a huge crush on Christen throughout college. Three months later, they were still together!

It brought a tear to my eye. These things in life are so precious.

I Like Your Style…

Louise Roe!

You may have seen her on this season’s The City, but Louise is no reality television star. Louise is known for being a fashion reporter from London, but has since relocated to Los Angeles to host her new fashion makeover show Plain Jane. I have somehow managed to wrap Itsyowyow into a London Invasion theme this year, but this was just a coincidence. Louise is one classy lady who possesses a charismatic personality and tops it all off with a dynamic sense of style.
