Mad Rad // Champagne Champagne Tour Journal

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting the band members of Champagne Champagne – Mark, Pearl, and Mr. Thomas as I have decided to nickname him. Local celebrities on the hill, the trio is known for their beats, raps, and unpredictable antics. They gave a performance at Seattle University like none I have ever seen before. Immersing themselves throughout the crowd and performing alongside students allowed the audience to be completely involved with the set. Plus, the guys were super nice and at the end of the night, Thomas had even offered me the job of becoming their music manager. Oh someday…

On Saturday, Champagne Champagne and local group Mad Rad left for their tour and the bands have been blogging about their travels through The Stranger’s Line Out blog. Unfortunately, the tour van recently got pulled over in Arizona, but not wanting to spoil to you what happens next – I’ll let Thomas spill the details for you here.

Good luck guys! Safe travels and stay out of trouble!

Mad Rad will be playing an all-ages show tomorrow night at the Vera Project w/ Champagne Champagne, Infinite Loop and Helladope to celebrate their CD release! Technically, their official release was last week at Neumos, but I’m glad to hear that they are realizing the importance of reaching out to their underage fans as well.

Out on the Town: 12/3

Mad Rad is celebrating the release of their new album The Youth Die Young! If you haven’t taken a listen, go visit their Myspace. I’m loving the remix of this song with Viper Creek Club…still. Pretty sure I made this the Song of the Day two weeks ago.

They’ll be performing at Neumos this Friday with Champagne Champagne, White Fang and Viper Creek Club. Solid lineup!

Doors: 8PM

Tickets: $10 ADV

21+

Sorry young ones, Mad Rad will be doing an all-ages show at the Vera Project a week later!

Music Spotlight: Viper Creek Club

The other day I made a post about Mad Rad’s remixed song “The Youth Die Young” featuring Viper Creek Club, but that was actually my first time hearing about VCC. I decided to check out their stuff and what I found was really no surprise. Mat and Brandon are a two-piece indie/electro duo out of Seattle. They’re currently unsigned, but these guys are so talented that I feel like that change could happen at any time. They will also be playing at the Mad Rad release show at Neumos next week. Unfortunately, it’s 21+ sorry young ones! The song of the day is “Eliza.” I’ve had it on repeat since yesterday. The beginning of this song sounds like the theme from the UK version of Skins also. Enjoy!

Song of the Day

Mad Rad ft. Viper Creek Club – The Youth Die Young

I’ve been a pretty big fan of Mad Rad ever since they put on a stellar performance at Capitol Hill Block Party this past summer. They’ve got a new CD coming out and a show Dec 3rd. In the past, they have left quite the impression [resulting in a poor reputation] at several venues in the area, but things are starting to look up for the band – starting w/ this track!

It is just too good.

Feel free to listen to it here!

Mad Rad – My Product

Hello everyone! Bumbershoot starts tomorrow! Is anyone going?

I’m deciding right now that Song of the Days from this point on until I get bored will ONLY be from Seattle bands and musicians. I HOBviously won’t choose any songs I’ve already done in the past. The reason for doing this is just because I want to spread word about all of the wonderful local musicians in the area. All weekend long Bumbershoot has packed in a lineup full of Seattle bands and musicians, which I am loving this year – but I don’t want that loving to stop after Labor Day Weekend. In fact, I want to keep it going. Hence – This.

Mad Rad recently tore it up at the Capitol Hill Block Party and they just seem like a group of goofy guys. That’s all.
