Not Much Labor Going On Here

Above: mini Jambox, DV by Dolce Vita sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies, can of 21st Amendment Brewery Hell or High Watermelon

Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone! Aren’t 3 day weekends just the best? I’ve got quite the agenda planned for today, but I’m only starting with this post right here. Priorities. I know some say that Labor Day Weekend is pretty much the last weekend of summer, but it’s supposed to be 90 degrees like all week so I’m going to milk this out for as long as I can. Yesterday, I third wheeled with my favorite engaged couple and we threw a relaxing mini pool party with some of the essential above. Okay, those are my essentials, but still. Hope you all enjoy your last weekend of summer and make the most of it!

Back Then It Was a Fresh Cut

Black dress – Aritzia / Sunglasses – Marc by Marc Jacobs

Every time I’m back in Seattle, Veronica and I never miss an opportunity to get some shooting time in. After all, she was the one who documented all of the photos for “Space Girl” way back when. Queen Anne is a gorgeous neighborhood with endless hills, a lot of Seattle landmarks, and colored walls like these. This was the perfect contrast to the daytime little black dress I wore that day. Also, it happened to sprinkling on this “summer” day in Seattle, but it was so warm and humid out! We’ve been wearing the wavy hair for the summer and happy to say that a month later, we’re still doing it. It’s just much more fun than straight hair.

Back in Seattle…

Striped dress – Aritzia / Birkenstocks / Sunglasses – Marc by Marc Jacobs

I had the best time returning home and visiting Seattle last month. These crosswalks in Capitol Hill were freshly painted that morning and I knew I couldn’t leave without getting a picture with them. We did our best! These crosswalks are typically so busy in the Pike/Pine corridor so it’s tough to get a photo without another stranger in them. These were mainly done just in time for Pride, but I had heard that they were going to be sticking around for much longer. As they should! They totally bring a little something to the neighborhood, plus they are super fun. I really love dresses like this for the summer where you can just pull it on over your head and have it be a no-fuss type of an outfit that is ready to go.

Cool For The Summer

Striped Top – Abercrombie & Fitch / Pants – Uniqlo / Black Heels – Vince Camuto / Sunglasses – Marc Jacobs

Summer in South Bay is just the best! This must be one of my favorite parts about living in the Bay Area. I just went on a shopping trip with my friend Kelly the other day and while we were both seeking things with color, I ended up taking the black and white route. I know what you’re thinking. What are you doing buying a top from Abercrombie & Fitch? I went into the store the other day because I had seen a dress on Jamie Chung from there that looked incred. After trying it on and realizing that bell sleeves were never going to work for me, I let that dream go. I did, however, still wanted to peruse since I was there anyways. This striped top with a criss-cross back was $10. What a steal! I remember when I was in middle school and was saving up my allowance to buy a $65 skirt from them. The brand, I’ve heard, has actually been making moves in a more positive direction. I’m not sure if it could ever replace the way I feel about Aritzia, but I’m willing to give them a shot.

Prom Season?

(BCBG Max Azria – $380)

Around this time, most young girls are gearing up for their high school’s prom. You may not be guaranteed to have the best prom night ever, but I think it’s an experience that everyone needs to have. There’s no doubt that you won’t come out of it with a story to tell.

My prom night was spent with my best friends. My dress was…very expensive, but I have since worn it a second time. My hair was a little overwhelming. The dance… meh, the dinner… special, the after party…extraordinary.

There are some things I wish I would’ve done a little bit differently. Hands down, the best part about prom is everything that comes before it. I loved dress shopping! So here are some of my favorite picks for this spring’s prom season. I wish I could do this part all over again!
