12 Things You Didn’t Know about Mean Girls

1. Initially, Lindsay Lohan was cast as Regina, but decided to play the “nice girl” so the public wouldn’t base her real personality on Regina’s.

Last night, ABC Family premiered Mean Girls 2 after showing the classic Mean Girls movie. I didn’t watch because

a) it was a mistake to make a Mean Girls 2 in the first place

b) I wasn’t interested

c) too busy watching Bridal Plasty – shhhh!

Buzzfeed did compile a list of facts about the original Mean Girls movie though. To check them out, click here.

Did anyone watch Mean Girls 2? Can anyone confirm that it was actually a train wreck for me?

Mean Girls 2 – Straight to DVD failure

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp9CBuDfgZk]

There will only ever be one Mean Girls. Why can’t people just see that? How can people think that making a second film based off of the original is a good idea? It didn’t work for Bring It On or American Pie. Yesterday, it was announced that they would be turning the hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” into a film. While the last season of Buffy kind of went down the drain, we should just remember it the way it was in the good ol’ days. A new Buffy can never replace Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Above is the trailer for Mean Girls 2…so much embarrassment.

How to be a somebody in 2010

Remember when attempting to”make it” meant leaving your entire life behind and moving to Los Angeles or New York? Those aspiring quickly realized that it wasn’t as easy as they thought and resorted to finding day jobs to fund for their new lifestyles. The difference between then and now is that now we don’t have to try. The fame we once sought after is knocking right on our front doors. [cliches are exciting no?] If you want to be famous today, what you need is to have a talented voice, a video camera or a web cam. Record the video, post it on YouTube and hope you’re good enough to get noticed by some agent. For example, look at how well 12-year old Greyson Chance is doing. Four months ago, he performed Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at his middle school’s talent show and now he is getting worldwide recognition. Greyson also just finished recording his first album!

Not everyone can be a singer though.

Imagine the “High School Cafeteria scene in Mean Girls.” You’ve got your fashion bloggers, your YouTube stars, Actual celebrites, Twitterers, and your project bloggers.

Below are some of my favorite bloggers who gained their respect and credibility through their blogs.

Victoria’s Secret to make Halloween Costumes

Are we surprised by this new collection by VS? Not really. It was bound to happen eventually, it was obvious! Halloween comes around every year and girls continue to try and dress as provocative and as sexy as they can, like Halloween is an excuse to look like you’ve just finished on a www.m-porn.xxx set, so Victoria’s Secret may as well cash in on such an easy audience. So, I discovered the greatest news about Halloween this year from my best friend, Halloween is on a Sunday. You know what that means… celebrating FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY. I hope you’re preparing three costumes, because everyone knows you can’t wear the same one three days in a row. Unless you really go all out on something of course (or you get showered in compliments day one).

I am having a hard time figuring out what kind of costumes they would design though. I would say 70% if not more of the costumes worn by women during Halloween include lingerie or are made up of lingerie entirely, not unlike something Strippers in Charlotte might wear. My hope for them is that they get a little creative because if it’s Victoria’s Secret, I don’t want to see anything I’ve seen before at any other costume shop. Otherwise they will really miss the opportunity, what would be the point in buying something for more money that I can just find elsewhere or may already have?

Like they say in Mean Girls,

“In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.”

People Breaking Rules

Today, Max and I watched an online news story from CNN about a 33-year old teacher who had had sexual relations with a 14-year old…Gross! Plus, she actually decided to just walk into that police station with her attorney and turn herself in. Said teacher could be facing seven years in prison now.

So why do teachers do this? They’re supposed to be educators yes? Role models? Of course. They are not supposed to be your first time, your lovin’ on the side, or whatever it is you want to call it. It’s just bad news.

Somehow we’re not all that phased when we see it in Mean Girls, in Saved By the Bell the College Years (bad example, Kelly Kapowski was of age I’m sure, but that’s her professor!) and other examples that I can’t think of right now.

The Frisky informed me that based on a new study, women who are teachers top the list as being one of the most unfaithful. The most unfaithful women can also be found as housewives (duh! Desperate Housewives anyone?) nurses, administrative assistants, and real estate agents. For men: doctors, lawyers, policemen, engineers, and real estate agents.

I bet the whole world is wondering where musicians, athletes, politicians, actors and porn stars fall on the list. Just saying…

Questions of the day

  • Why is the movie “Valentine’s Day” getting so much publicity? Are people not aware of “New York, I Love You?” Same concept. It came out back in October also. Bradley Cooper decided to do BOTH. Another why?
  • When will the new Lady Gaga – Beyonce Telephone video be out?
  • Why are people riding scooters to classes and everywhere on campus at Seattle University? [insert Mean Girls quote] “…you can go shave your back hair now.”

Night everyone!

Not Another Teen Movie

I wasn’t alive in the 80’s, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink.

They were classics! Everyone loved them and everyone still loves them to this day.

From the time I was born up until… 2000, teenage hit movies were all the rage. They were funny, refreshing, and most of the time true. I didn’t know that yet because I was still probably eight and hadn’t lived through high school. Also, the actors and actresses in these movies sometimes overlapped and I swear, these kids all did the same movies together.

  • Can’t Hardly Wait
  • She’s All That
  • Bring It On
  • Cruel Intentions
  • Never Been Kissed
  • 10 Things I Hate About You
  • American Pie

These had to be some of my favorite movies. A decade has passed and I want to know where they went. We had Mean Girls, yes, but that’s where it began and ended. Now that I’m ten years older, I wonder if I would still love these movies as much if they were to resurface again. Maybe it will just remain a part of my childhood.

So which was your favorite?
