Wool & Prince Shirts

I don’t think any girl will ever say no her guy donning a dress shirt. I always find it kind of funny though because guys will say they love it when girls are dressed down or “in sweats and no makeup,” but uh… I don’t know if a girl would say that about a guy, right?

While some guys may not like to admit up front that they like to dress up, us girls know that they do. We also understand that it takes a little bit more work for them. For one, a dress shirt requires care. It needs to be dry cleaned and ironed. Sure, girls have those issues too, but not as often. Wool & Prince has claimed that they have found the solution for men! Their new line of shirts were recently tested and the results have shown that these shirts can be worn for 100 days straight appearing clean and wrinkle free! It’s not stain proof – but then again that depends on how clumsy the guy is. The shirt costs $98, but if it lives up to all that it promises, then it is most certainly worth it.

7 Reasons To Love Spring

IMG_9368

Readers, no one is more excited than I am to see winter GONE. I have loved spring since the day that I was born, but there are 7 reasons that I am going to share with you today on why I am swooning over this season. Even though it’s all that I’ve ever known, spring in Seattle is gorgeous. I don’t know how I am ever going to part with it, but we don’t have to talk about that now – so let’s just get into the good stuff, shall we?

1. I (personally) get to dress better. While I love my layers, the worst part about winter is having to hide every outfit with a coat. Another reason? I’m too lazy to go to coat check. During spring, that just isn’t a problem. Bring a cover up, fold up a cardigan, and you are good to go. This season, I am thrilled to be bringing out my favorite dresses for the weekend and even in the office paired with a blazer. Some of my favorite dresses will be featured in just a couple of days for The Closet: March 2013 post.

2. The men are dressing better. Pastels, crisp shirts, lighter fabric – we like it all. Guys, need to know what to purchase for the spring? Check out Refinery 29’s guide here.

3. It’s the start of the wedding season y’all! Unfortunately, I have not been invited to any weddings yet this season, but I am assisting my co-worker in her side project of being a freelance wedding planner and I am ecstatic to be jumping into any sort of event planning once again.

4. The gorgeous views of the sun setting in Seattle from my home and Mt. Rainier! I can’t get enough of it.

5. My Mariners even though they’re not doing so hot right now, that’s okay.

6. Blogging on the go. What I loved about living in Seattle for the past 4 years is that I could take my computer with me everywhere and I have found that blogging in different settings whether it’s on campus, in a coffee shop, at a cafe, outside, etc completely gave me a new perspective. It affected the content that I was writing or the mood that I was in and naturally, I just loved moving out and about. You can do that in the spring, but in the winter, you won’t see me leaving the house to just blog.

7. Brunch – better yet, any meal outdoors. Enough said.

Trunk Club

I actually thought that I had posted about Trunk Club over the summer so I was surprised to go through Yow Yow’s archives and see nothing come up. I learned about the personal styling service over the summer when boy’s brother had used it for the first time. How does it work? You – the male – are not much of a shopper, but you want to look good and you enjoy wearing nice clothes. When you become a Trunk Club member, you work directly with a stylist who will ask you questions about your taste in clothes, what you like, what you don’t like, etc. and after you’re all done, that stylist chooses for you several outfits and many pieces that can be mixed and matched together. I happened to witness the trunk opening, which revealed what could have been a little over a dozen pieces. It was something out of a dream and I kind of wish they had a similar service for females! Maybe they’re still working on it, who knows? The prices tend to be on the higher side, but the quality is well worth it. There aren’t any membership fees associated to the Trunk Club, but what you end up keeping is what you will pay for. Not a bad deal, eh?

Guys, I don’t often write a lot of posts for you, but really – this is one you’re going to want to pay attention to.

Sincerely,

A blogger that’s on the boys’ side!

Shipley & Halmos Debut New Website

newshipleyhalmos

I’ve been a fan of Shipley & Halmos from the very start. No, they don’t make women’s clothing, but their menswear is the kind of stuff I want my future guy to wear! Well, their tech team did a major rework on their website today and it is pretty spectacular. The reason I’m sharing it with you is because the new website is more than just retail. It’s actually kind of men’s blog in itself! So male readers of Yow Yow…get up on it!

Refinery 29 Man

I am so pleased to announce that one of my favorite fashion blogs – Refinery 29 – has launched a new page dedicated entirely to Men’s fashion. I’ve been a huge fan of menswear and even men’s blogs for quite some time, but have had a hard time breaking into it myself on Yow Yow. I’d say the best guys’ post I ever did was the Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for men, but even that was pretty recent. Guys – you are very important to me and whenever possible I’m going to share with you men’s blogs because you deserve to read something completely tailored to you. Please check out Refinery 29 Man and enjoy!
