What a great lineup! And of course we’re always a bit partial when our hometown heroes are on the bill. We’re looking at you Death Cab For Cutie and The Head & The Heart!

Katie [past tense] Did Bumbershoot
Long story short, I sometimes guest write for the Seattle based arts and music magazine called Redefine. I was asked to write a review on three bands that I caught during the first day of the festival in which Redefine has published online.
“When I first heard the weather forecast for Bumbershoot weekend was going to be cloudy with a chance of excessive rain, my assumption was that there was no way a little rain or even a lot of rain would stop music-obsessed Seattleites from attending the largest music festival in the Northwest. I was right; energy was high from musicians, attendance was as expected, and concert-goers donned the waterproof jackets to protect them from the “light showers” as they screamed through Katy Perry’s songs and got down on the floor to the upbeat band duo, Matt & Kim…”
PS I wanted to write reviews on others band I had seen at the festival for my own blog… but I accidentally deleted all the pictures I took from the festival last weekend. I’ve never done that before, and it’s the absolute worst because it’s almost like you were never there at all. Sorry 🙁 I’m sad about it too.

Free UW HUB concert on the Lawn
I could’ve sworn I did this post this morning.
Built to Spill and Ra Ra Riot will be performing. The concert will run from 3-7 PM and it is absolutely free.
Built to Spill sounds like Death Cab and Ra Ra Riot reminds me of The Kooks.
If you’re not from UW and you don’t care for those bands you may not want to make the trip but if you’re already at UW you might as well!
The lineup isn’t as good as last years, (Blue Scholars, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Minus The Bear) but I am awfully fond of my Seattle bands!
In comparison, I think Seattle University’s Quadstock with headliner Talib Kweli totally owns UW this year.
Quadstock Photos
I finally edited my five pictures that I liked. Camera Rini is presh but she is quite a handful because I have to use two hands for her, can’t really take her out for fear of…the worst (spilt fluids, bumpage, you knowwww…) but I’m not gonna lie, it felt damn good to bring her out into the crowd with me for Quadstock. I haven’t taken pictures at concerts for two maybe even three years. It used to be my dream to get that press pass and be in the security pit… how things have changed. To view the pictures bigger just click on them. Thanks!
The Love Lights. This was also the first picture in the set, and it always happens to be the one I like the least.
QUADSTOCK
QUADSTOCK TOMORROW! It’s going to be a gorgeous day and everyone is going to be out for this. Tickets are still $10 at the CAC and $12 at the door tomorrow. Starting at noon on Saturday, the Union Green will be open for the student performer stage, food, henna tattoos, a dunk tank, and various booths will be out also. Then at 4:00 PM the Quad will open with performances from listed above. Talib Kweli is playing at 9:00 PM. Also with your ticket you will get two entrees from your pick of Dick’s, Ezell’s, Pita Pit and Dominos.
Also my good friend Marcus and his friend Jimmy will be performing with their group Quarter After at 2:30 PM in the Green!
I cannot wait to participate in my first Quadstock. I haven’t figured out what my agenda will look like just yet, but I will be on and off campus and will have my camera with me. See you out there tomorrow!
