I may not love the direction that Paramore has been on for the last few years, but we’ll never stop adoring Hayley Williams.

What We’re Listening to this Weekend

It is a whopping 100 degrees out here in the South Bay today and I’m dying and sweating all over my couch. I’m about 3 minutes from running down the stairs and jumping into my pool. It’s one of those thoughts that should probably use a little bit more calculation, but right now – it seems like the only solution. Kanye’s “The College Dropout” is one of my favorite albums and I still remember blasting “All Falls Down” when I was 14 in the car with my parents. We’re listening to this album through and through today because old Kanye is the best kind of Kanye.

Ariana for President

I will not lie; I cried some very solid tears watching this performance tonight by Ariana Grande. I’m glad that she was able to return to Manchester for this concert. That is some incredible strength and courage given the incident that occurred Saturday night. <3

Music Video of the Day

Does anyone still love watching music videos as much as I do? It’s something that I loved growing up watching TRL and now that they’re not as common, I probably spend a little bit more time than I would watching some of them. I’ve actually been enjoying this song all spring and thought the video ended up being pretty cool. I could never hate anything that comes from Miguel and Dua Lipa has been putting out great singles for the last year or so!

Fifth Harmony, Who?

There was no question at all that Camila wasn’t going to come out strong upon leaving Fifth Harmony. If there was a question, it was going to be how quickly she could rise to the potential she always had as a solo artist. And now we know. I’ve been obsessed with “Love Incredible” since it came out and even though it was more Cashmere Cat’s song than hers, I still wondered why it wasn’t more of a chart topper. I didn’t care for the song she did with Pitbull or “Bad Things” or “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” but “Crying in the Club” is such a bop. It makes the Selena Gomez track that was released one day before look like child’s play. What’s great about the music video for “Crying in the Club” is that it also previews “I Have Questions” – a new song that she’ll be performing for the first time at the Billboard Music Awards. I feel for Fifth Harmony, I really do, but this was inevitable. Camila was just born to be a star in her own right and now she gets to do that.

Harry Styles – Ever Since New York

Okay, so we’re a little bit embarrassed to be posting this. I’ve never been a One Direction fan, really, but I watched Harry perform this song on SNL a couple of weeks ago and I was eagerly anticipating the release date of this album so that I could add this ONE song to my playlist. And… we also had it on repeat as I tried to fall asleep last night. Has anyone else listened to the rest of the album? I’m doing it as we speak and it’s not bad. It’s easy listening for sure, but I don’t feel the need to over listen to it like I did with Khalid. ;)

What We’re Listening to This Weekend

Since I now work in the city, I try to avoid San Francisco as much as I can on the weekends. That means the city is only reserved for special events… like I mean you gotta be celebrating a birthday and if it’s not at that baseline, cya! Myself in my late 20’s is actually fascinating to me because my weekends typically consist of brunch dates, snack dates, and errands. I think teenager me would wonder how I seem to have errands every single weekend. I’m still trying to figure that out too. After a busy day of shopping though, I’m now at home and resting up before I fly to LA later on this week. I was in the mood for The Weeknd, but not any of his new stuff. House of Balloons has always been one of my favorites and though it’s a little dark at times, it’s nice background music for me while I’m writing on Yow Yow! I didn’t hate his latest album, but I didn’t want to listen to anything remotely close to “Can’t Feel My Face” so here we are.
