Inauguration Day Performance

After watching the actual event the morning of, I was so overwhelmed that I forgot there was an entire evening portion. As I was getting ready for bed, I caught up with a post that showed all the performances I had missed. To be honest, I didn’t care about everyone performing and this was the only one that I watched. But why did Katy Perry’s performance make me so emotional? There was something about the over extravagant fireworks and everyone watching them while listening to “Firework” that put me over the top.

It has only been a few days, but I feel incredibly relieved about everything. There has been a stiffness that I have felt for the last four years. And even just the last few weeks of silence paint a picture of what things could have been like all along.

Better Days Are Ahead

If I had a dollar for every post comparing this morning to Christmas morning…

I didn’t wake up with those sentiments. I did, however, wake up an hour early feeling all of the anticipation and nerves. Even with some buffer time to run and grab a quick coffee, I quickly abandoned those plans. Too afraid to miss any part of the Inauguration itself, I stayed put. I couldn’t tell you how long the actual event took place because time felt like it flew by. I was in complete awe from start to finish. At the end of it, I started my actual work day feeling hopeful and inspired.

It was quite the opposite reaction I had four years ago when it was instead 45 getting sworn in. Amongst all the praise and memes that filled my social media today (which I loved) the underlying emotion that I felt from everyone was relief. Better days are ahead. Now we turn the page. This is our next chapter. America is not a perfect country by any means. We were handed quite a mess, but we are in much better hands. I could go on and on about all of the upsetting things that have happened in the last few weeks that we’ve not so quietly re-shared in the form of posts that others have written. Instead, I think it’s best to move forward. Four years was enough and now we leave it behind.

Instead, I want to take a moment to celebrate the amazing things that happened today.

McDonald’s Japan Has Healthier Happy Meals

https://youtu.be/MDaJhkqUwK0

Growing up, there was no such thing as a healthier Happy Meal from McDonald’s. In fact, healthier eating for young children wasn’t as prioritized back then as it is now so it’s kind of refreshing to see such a change. In order to promote healthier eating with kids, McDonald’s in Japan is introducing new side offerings including yogurt, a side salad and a medley of corn and edamame. Yum! We’d take this option as an adult if we had the choice. The main dishes themselves will not change, but if you’re a kid not wanting fries, at least you have options.

Super Bowl Halftime Show to be 24 Minutes

Before I read this article, I didn’t even know that the Super Bowl Halftime show was only 12 minutes long. It always seemed much longer to be, but now reading 12 minutes, that seems like nothing. Pepsi said the decision to double the time was because we all missed out on a ton of live performances this year and they want this performance to feel like a concert. That seems nice. I also think The Weeknd sort of deserves something like this especially after getting shut out from The Grammys.

Regardless, we’re looking forward to it!

Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin Finally Confirm They Are Dating

Fans have been shipping the K-drama couple since the premiere of their series, “Crash Landing on You.” However, the rumors began long before the series aired as they also starred in the film, “The Negotiation.” The hints and clues were everywhere, but time and time again, the two continued to deny the rumors. Fans remained hopeful thinking one day it might actually happen and it did! Dispatch broke the news just after New Year’s Day giving us the perfect start to 2021.

Every time someone new watches a K-drama, they are always warned. “This doesn’t happen in real life.” “They’re just acting!” We fall in love with the leads not because they do a good job, but because we actually see the chemistry there. In the case of Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin, we were right! There couldn’t be a more perfect K-drama couple turned real life couple. This weekend, I’m seeing lots of CLOY enthusiasts and people re-watching the series (myself included!) Here’s hoping that the two stay together for a long time and have a happy ending!

Gucci x The North Face

There’s something about unlikely collaborations that really gets me excited. Though both clothing brands in their own right, you could say that both tailor to different audiences. However, what if you’re an individual that wants a piece that can double as functional and fashionable? In their latest collection out January 6th, Gucci and The North Face bring to you a line of ready to wear items that can be worn both indoors and outdoors.

The collection will release in China first and then be available to US customers beginning January 6th.
