The Shoes We’re Dreaming About Wearing Someday

It feels strange to say that we have an urge to buy all of these shoes right now because I feel like we never have that moment! I think that’s my internal feelings telling me that I clearly miss the outside world and taking my shoes out. When it comes to shoes, I generally skew minimal, but there’s something very “spacey” about these ones that I’m attached to. The AF1 trainers (bottom) are sporting a very casual camouflage-print that you may not notice at first sight. While I like how eclectic these are, purple is one of my favorite colors so I’d probably be more likely to wear the top pair. These will be available in June!

If you’re looking to get a head start on fall, these corduroy Dr. Martens might do the job. Personally, I don’t own a pair, but have been trying to find the most perfect ones for the last year. I’m a sucker for corduroy, but have always leaned towards them for skirts and jackets, never shoes. This might be the unique piece I’m looking for to complete the closet. This boot in particular is an updated version of their classic 1460 boot and a collaboration between the brand and Undercover’s Jun Takahashi. This boot release will be available on the Dr. Martens website starting May 23rd.

And last, but not least, how can you not love this understated, but cheeky pair of Nike’s Blazer Mid “Sketch.” I’m not a fan of shoes that look like something has been done to them yet the prices have soared and are ridiculous. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about – the pairs of shoes that have been “intentionally” scuffed because that was the design. “Sketch” is not one of those pairs. This is actually a quirky take on the iconic “Swoosh” that we can get behind. They are being sold [here!]

Nike Air Force 1 x ACG

What I loved about this sneaker is that it totally reminds me of your old school thick skater shoes from back in the day. Reading Hypebeast’s explanation of how this collaboration came to be is a bit more intricate though. What I didn’t realize is that it’s a merger of two sub-labels. And here we were just posting this because we loved the neon fun colors against the black.

The Nike Air Force 1 “ACG” is available starting today and retailing for $100 USD.

Nike’s Chinese New Year Ad

In the best thing that I watched today, this Chinese New Year ad by Nike. I know what you’re thinking. How can an advertisement that is only 1:30 speak so much to me? This underlying feeling of watching something that is so true to your life is an emotion that I won’t ever get tired of. I hope that we’ll have more advertisements like this not only from Nike in the future, but from other brands as well.

Nike – Pink Japanese Cherry Blossom

Spring vibes are already here for the new year! I’m loving this Nike Limited Edition Air Force 1 ’07 that basically reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream. Millennial pink phased out a bit in the last year, but from the looks of this, we may see a revisit in 2020. The cherry blossom details are subtle and at the back of the sneaker while letting the hues of pink do the rest of the talking. The sneaker will be sold for $110 and is now available at [Nike.com]

Air Jordan 8 “Pendleton”

Everyone here knows that I was introduced to my first Pendleton back in 2012 and I haven’t stopped talking about it since. It was the nicest gift that I ever received from blogging and the warmest thing that I own. I know this Air Jordan with the Pendleton print doesn’t look all that appealing, but that’s not what we’re doing for here. I’m all about the Pacific Northwest pride and as clunky as this sneaker is, we’re all about it. Nike Jordans and Pendleton are the ultimate Pacific Northwest collab coming out of Oregon.

A release of these is slated for November and will be going for $200 USD. Readers, would you wear these? How would you style them with your other Pacific Northwest belongings?

Nike – Dream Crazier

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=89&v=whpJ19RJ4JY

If you missed the Oscars last weekend, then you may have missed the debut of Nike’s latest campaign, “Dream Crazier.” I’ve been holding onto this video all week with the intent on sharing it, but now it seems more fitting today because of International Women’s Day on March 8th. Narrated by Serena Williams, the campaign goes against the negative stigmatism women feel when we get called crazy. That crazy can actually be amazing and it’s true because women have done these amazing things.

“If we show emotion, we’re called ‘dramatic.’ If we want to play against men, we’re ‘nuts.’ And if we dream of equal opportunity? ‘Delusional.’ When we stand for something, we’re ‘unhinged.’ When we’re too good, there’s ‘something wrong with us.’ And if we get angry, we’re ‘hysterical,’ ‘irrational,’ or ‘just being crazy.’

But a woman running a marathon was crazy. A woman boxing was crazy. A woman dunking, crazy. Coaching an NBA team, crazy. A woman competing in a hijab; changing her sport; landing a double-cork 1080; or winning 23 grand slams, having a baby, and then coming back for more? Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy and crazy.

So if they want to call you crazy? Fine. Show them what crazy can do.”

Personally, I have some strong feelings whenever I hear my guy friends call a girl ‘crazy.’ And I correct them. It’s not fair when guys do this and it’s not fair that the women aren’t there to defend themselves. We all can be better by removing this word from our vocabulary and I commend Nike for putting a positive spin on it.

Holiday Gift Guide 2018

 Chanel N°5 The Bath Soap – $26

Readers, what kind of Christmas shopper are you? Every year, I tell myself that I know how much easier it is to shop online, but can’t bring myself to do it. I have managed to order a few online exclusives and a few items that be personalized since I just found out you can upload photo on socks, but for the majority of my shopping, I still go to the mall. I hate the crowds at the mall, but yet I love it at the same time. There’s a certain kind of holiday cheer that you can get from the mall that you just can’t get from putting items into your cart from your couch. So this year, I did a mix of both and like every year, I know I’ll find myself at the mall one or two more times for that extra last minute Christmas shopping.

Here are just a few items that I’ve caught on the interwebs that I think would make great gifts along with a couple of things that I might want for myself too!

Nike x Pendleton Sneaker Collaboration

A collaboration of my two favorite things! If there’s one product that I’ve received through blogging that is truly Northwest, it is my treasured Pendleton blanket. I’ll never forget the day that box arrived on my doorstep. Since then, it has moved with me to three different apartments and kept me warm and snuggly through what I consider some harsh west coast winters. I can admit that it will never be as cold here as it is on the east coast. In this new collab, Pendleton and Nike join forces for the ultimate cozy sneaker. There are 29 sneakers that belong to the collection and they come in a number of styles including: Blazer Low, Air Max 1, and Air Max 90.

Sundays at The Riddler

Turtleneck – Aritzia / Skirt – Brandy Melville / Denim Jacket – Gap / Hat – Nordstrom / Sneakers – Nike

I never considered myself a big champagne drinker, but when I learned that The Riddler, a champagne bar in Hayes Valley, was serving up brunch on the weekends it seemed worth checking out. Nestled on a quiet street in Hayes, The Riddler sometimes feels like it goes unnoticed. One defining feature though? A champagne bottle painted on the side of their building that doubles as a photo backdrop.

The Riddler’s brunch menu is not like other brunch menus that you might find in San Francisco. Instead, it’s actually quite mysterious and not even found on their website. The only way I knew that they served brunch was through the grapevine and on other blogs.

How it works: There is a pre-fixe menu with three different categories that you get to choose from. For the starter, we had the option of choosing from two different yogurt parfaits. Next we chose from a selection of savory tarts and then a selection of quiches. The brunch at The Riddler is supposed to be considered a bit lighter than your usual, but it ends up being the perfect amount. As many of you know, I love variety in my meals so having a little bit of everything satisfied my craving. If this wasn’t enough, the menu also has a selection of various champagne cocktails for you to choose from to pair with the rest of your meal. Not only was everything pretty delicious, but it’s such a great setting for a morning with your girlfriends. I took two of my favorite girls that I thought would enjoy the brunch along for the ride and we loved every minute of it.
