Song of the Day

Atmosphere – Kanye West

Today’s Song of the Day is actually a song I listened to and discovered yesterday. The video is kind of confusing, abrasive, and so true to its name. It basically follows what I assume to be a very non-typical Bonnie and Clyde caring very little about everything. I could elaborate a little bit more with this description, but Noisey did such a better job with it that I’m just going to include theirs below.

At the Noisey office, we keep incessantly saying “turn up” to each other, to the point that the phrase has lost all inherent meaning, transforming into a phonetic formulation, devoid of context. Atmosphere has done something similar with their newest single “Kanye West,” taking the name of the biggest rapper in the known universe and turning it (up) into a refrain about giving a damn and a fuck. The video for “Kanye West” is a reminder that true love knows no borders, laws, or suspicions that your partner is using you to help knock over a bunch of convenience stores.

Noisey

I think I have found my new favorite music channel and it’s not MTV. In fact it’s not even on television. Noisey is a music channel online that showcases some of my favorite up and coming bands in exclusive interviews and performances. Last night, I watched a short ep. of Phantogram and fell in love – not that I wasn’t in love with them even before this. Other artists featured are: Pusha-T, Porcelain Raft, Seattle’s own Craft Spells, Holy Ghost! and many more.

The end of your productivity starts here. You’re welcome!
