Oh Joy for Brit + Co

Sugar and Cloth Gold Foil Tote Kit – $19

When it comes to gifts, I usually don’t have a hard time picking something out for the people I care about the most. I think over the years, I’ve sort of compiled a list of places that provide universally GREAT gifts – things that most people will enjoy no matter what. This week, I came across Oh Joy’s curated gifts through Brit + Co and we pretty much want everything. Who cares about passing it onto others?! Can’t we just keep these things for ourselves? They’re all at different price points too so there’s really something for everyone. Here are a few of our favorite picks. We had to limit ourselves.

Five Favorite Pins: Happy National Donut Day!

Happy National Donut Day y’all! More importantly though, why aren’t we celebrating donuts every day? When I was growing up, my parents would always surprise my friends and I with donuts the next day if we had a sleepover at my house and it was the best treat. I’m a huge fan of the generic chocolate and allover sugar donuts, but these days, donuts are starting to look a lot prettier. Almost too pretty to eat… Here are 5 of my favorite looking donuts. I don’t always know what they taste like, but they sure are nice to look at!

Oh Joy! Weddings

One of my favorite bloggers, Joy Cho, announced this week that she was collaborating with Kin to share some of her best wedding DIY tricks! With wedding season just upon us, many of these DIYs will come in handy for those about to be brides. They’re also just useful tips if you’re someone that likes to entertain and host your own parties. I thought this table number DIY was genius and so creative. It also doesn’t seem like something that would require a lot of time. Readers, what do you think? Is this something that you could see yourself incorporating into your future wedding?

This or That: The Blogger Pose

I didn’t know it at the time when I was taking this shot, but I was totally following in the footsteps of my blogging icon Joy Cho of Oh Joy!

It has been several years since I read her blog for the first time, but I am still such a huge fan of hers and her daughter Ruby of course! I also had the pleasure of meeting Joy last year at Anthropologie in Seattle when she was helping them launch their Petites collection. Joy really is such a great role model for women everywhere and I’m having a great time enjoying reading Blog Inc. Even though I’ve been doing this for some time, everything that I’ve learned, I’ve learned by doing and by intuition so it’s refreshing to really dig in and learn from an expert!

Oh Joy! for Target

I have never felt more behind in blogging than I do right now. However, I just did a very adult thing that is due on April 15th every year so in some way, I feel like I’m on a roll.

Since I heard about Oh Joy!’s collection for Target, I have been dying to blog about it. By now, I’m sure most of you have seen some of the images. Seeing them in person at the store was just as great too. Here are some of my favorite picks below. I wish I had a party to throw soon so that these purchases would be worth it!

These adorable two-toned vases are holding paint brushes, but could they potentially hold my makeup brushes too?

The Weekend: 5 Things

I just realized that the past two posts in the series have been 5 Things: The Weekend. I’m not sure if it really works both ways so we’re taking it back to the original. This year’s birthday celebration was similar to years prior in that I prefer to stretch it out. After celebrating with my friends the weekend before my birthday, I decided that the weekend after I would travel to sunny San Diego to visit my BFF Ash!

It was an incredible weekend full of shopping, seafood, and pampering.

My weekend actually got started on a Thursday since I was flying out Friday morning. On Thursday evening, I drove up to the city (what?! In the middle of the work week!) to catch London Grammar at The Independent. I had listened to a few songs before randomly, but never consistently. They were amazing live and with a packed house, it was pretty apparent that nearly everyone in the room was a hardcore fan. I didn’t feel worthy enough to be there, but I did feel pretty lucky since I heard it was a sold out show. Hannah was phenomenal. Her boys are pretty dreamy too.

During our shopping trip at Fashion Valley, we stopped by “Typo” – a division of Cotton On that sells cute desk accessories, trinkets, and home goods. How cute are these straws? They’d be perfect for any summer soiree.

Pacific Beach was perfection and so are my new favorite sandals by Dolce Vita. More on that later.

Whoooo!! This girl is my best friend. Since we’ve been friends, we’ve never spent a summer apart and this year, we won’t have to because we’ll both be in the Bay Area while she is interning at Stanford. Summer 2014 – the summer of Ash and Katie.

We found the Oh Joy! collection at Target and we fell in love. Definitely more on this later.

Fruity Striped Ice Cubes

photo cred | Oh Joy!

There’s a running joke at my workplace about how I always try to strive to become more of a refined adult. What exactly does that entail? Well, I aspire to be more adult like by taking vacations with my friends and significant other or entertaining at my home and cooking elaborate meals that I pull out of my cookbooks and not just Pinterest. When I came across Joy’s recipe for fruity striped ice cubes, I immediately thought it fell under the category of “refined adult,” but also because Memorial Day is tomorrow! The forecast doesn’t look great for Seattle, but hopefully somewhere out there one of my readers can put this to good use.

Anthropologie Introduces Petites

Coral Wave Shift – $168

Last night, I stopped by the Anthropologie event in Seattle  to celebrate their new Petites collection along with special guest Joy Cho of one of my favorite blogs – Oh Joy! I’ve been shopping at Anthropologie since I was 15 years old so yes, I was a little bit of an old soul, but that’s okay – I just look at it as getting a head start on enhancing my wardrobe. After taking a sneak peak at the collection and sipping on sweet strawberry drinks, I was hooked. Not to mention – I got to meet Joy, herself! Here are some of my favorite picks from the collection.
