Will London be Robbed of The 2012 Olympics Too?

Since news of the riots have broken out in London, many are having second thoughts about having the city host the 2012 Olympics. And when I say many – I just mean China. Apparently, the riots (which have completely spun out of control from the original story) have tarnished the city’s reputation and could be now considered unsafe and unfitting to host.

I would hope that this would not continue for another year, but who really knows. I say let them keep the Olympics.

For my friends in London – Play on!

I’ve got a few friends in London right now who have been studying abroad over there and also some friends that will be there within the next year – so this piece of news is for them.

Similar to the piano installations all over New York, London has done the same with table tennis. There are nearly 100 ping pong tables located in London in public places including streets, parks, shopping centers etc. So if there’s one free by you, use it! The table wants you to play it. Apparently, the program is from an initiative that  is trying to set up some buzz for the Olympics, which will be heading to London in 2012.

China Playing Dirrrrty

This past Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee made the decision to strip China’s Gymnastics team of their bronze medal after discovering one gymnast was underage during the 2000 Olympic games.

The United States will be receiving the bronze instead. (YAYAYA!)

It turns out that during the Olympic games in Sydney, Australia, one of their athletes was only 14 years old. According to the rule book, you must be at least 16 – not pre-teen status basically.

This is how it begins.

The Olympics combine sports AND music

I love Vancouver. Vancouver, Canada that is, not Vancouver, Washington. Even though I’m not from there I am loving the hype it is gaining for the Winter Olympics right now. Since the Olympics are a huge event and there will be many more people flowing in and out of the city during this time, they have decided to put on a free music festival for two weeks (Feb 12-28!)

PS the animals for their design are super cute. I want!

Here’s the list underneath the cut:

Because people might get the wrong idea…

Does the new torch designed for the 2010 Olympic Games remind you of anything? Michael Phelps maybe? It’s looks like a joint yo! I guess we shouldn’t be surprised because Vancouver, BC happens to be a very “marijuana friendly place.” At least from experience, I can walk down the street and see a guy just lighting up on the bench. In day light. No sign of hiding. No big deal?
