2016 Oscars After Party

Brie Larson in Monse

This is my favorite because The Oscars red carpet tends to be very grand and conservative, but the after party is when things start to get a little bit sexier and you know all the stars that weren’t invited to the actual award show get to come out so that’s nice for them.

We HAD to kick this post off with Brie. Honestly, how could we not? Also, oh my goodness – is she wearing pink velvet? She not only was the best dressed of the night, but clearly the most comfortable the rest of the night. We just want to be friends with her.

Oscars 2016 Red Carpet

Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein

*swoon* oh my gosh, isn’t she a vision? I was debating between using Saoirse or Alicia for the first photo of this post, but when it came down to it, I had to pick this one. The sequins, the Emerald green and the s/o to her Irish heritage is absolutely perfect. This is the perfect look for the nominated actress.

2016 Oscar Nominated Shorts

Manan and I did something really fun yesterday that I’ve never done before. We went to the theater down by the Embarcadero to watch all of this year’s Oscar nominated shorts! Now, every year most people just care about who’s going to win Best Picture or Best Actress or Best Actor and the shorts don’t get that much action. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Oscar nominated short previously so seeing five this year at once was a big deal to me. Manan told me that even though they don’t get a lot of buzz, there’s something really incredible about them. Because they are considered shorts – the people behind them have to make sure that everything is explicit and pretty straightforward since you’re not getting a lot of context. These all varied in length too some at just 12 minutes and some up to 30 minutes.

This year’s nominations:

  • Ave Maria
  • Shok
  • Everything Will Be Okay
  • Stutterer
  • Day One

At the end of it all, Manan and I asked each which one we liked the best and which one we thought would win. We both were in agreement; we LOVED Stutterer, but we think Shok will win. I read some predictions this morning that some people thought Ave Maria or Day One would win, but Ave Maria was my least favorite of the brunch and Day One was too unrealistic for me and not believable one bit.
