Starting tomorrow, the Seattle Art Museum will be premiering their new exhibit showcasing 30 years in Japanese fashion. The exhibition will include 80 pieces of gowns and garments and have made it all the way to Seattle from the Kyoto Costume Institute. I am so excited to view this exhibit in person! Anyone else planning on making the trip?

Capitol Hill’s Li’l Woody’s will be handing out free burgers on Monday to celebrate National Hamburger Day! Between 2 and 5pm, swing by the restaurant and snag your free burger. Everyone loves free things and your stomach will be happy you did this too. The rules? One burger per person. And toppings and add ons will cost a little extra.

What I love about the Seattle music scene is that everyone is friends with each other and when one band or one artist is going through a tough time, the community comes together to make things right. Recently Kris Orlowski and his band were robbed of their equipment for the third time! I’m not sure if anyone ever realizes this (kind of like how most people don’t understand what a production a concert/music festival can be) but equipment is not cheap. A new music start-up named Ziibra (who we also have been working with!) is hosting a a “We Were Robbed” benefit show for Kris and his band on April 29th at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard with an all-star lineup. At this show, you’ll find sets by Kris Orlowski, Allen Stone, Meagan Grandall (Lemolo), Daniel Blue (Motopony) and quite a few others! Tickets for the show are $10.

Earlier this week a pawn shop was able to track down $80 of their stolen gear so any extra proceeds from the show will go straight towards the non-profit MusiCares.

Out on the Town: 4/9

When I was a younger, I used to be so great at planning to be at concerts. No, not just planning concerts, which I also did. But I mean if there was a show I wanted to be at, I was going to make sure I was going to be there. It’d be on my calendar. I’d have a notification for it on my phone. If it was a weekday, I’d tell my parents I was going to the library to study. Sorry Mom and Dad – but enough time has passed now that you can know this.

As a 20-Something, I now fail at something I used to succeed at. Tonight, there are two incredible shows that I am missing. If I could be in three places at once, I would. The reason why I cant go to either of these shows tonight though is because I simply just have other plans and dropped the ball on forgetting so please please please go in my place, will you?

I’ve been talking about her for about a month and now she’s finally here. Jessie Ware will be performing at The Crocodile Cafe in Seattle with special guests. Show is 21+ and starts at 8PM. Tickets and more info can be found here.

Secondly, one of my favorite artists Bryce Avery of The Rocket Summer is in town. I’d actually been planning on going to this show for months. April came out of nowhere! He’ll be performing at El Corazon tonight with an AMAZING lineup – The Classic Crime, Joe Brooks, and William Beckett. It is all ages and tickets are $18. Doors open at 6:30PM.

Hey readers, if you love free stuff as much as I do, then I’ve got a treat for ya! To celebrate the Mariners’ opening day this coming Monday, Cupcake Royale will serve you up a free scoop of ice cream if you are donning a Mariners’ hat or jersey. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me! Have you dessert first and then head on down to the game y’all.

Happy CHBP Premiere Party! Even though we’ve already heard word of the partial lineup, I wonder if they will be revealing more artists at this event. If not – hi! Pickwick will be there. That’s wonderful in itself. For more details click here. Also, when did Neumos re-do their website? I suppose it has been awhile since I visited, but I am loving the minimalist vibe it has and the easier navigation.

Last year, I felt so lucky to be able to attend two Mariners games. Now I know that isn’t a lot and that doesn’t make me a super fan by any means, but for anyone that knows me, you know that sports aren’t really my thing (they never have been) but take me to a Mariners game and you will have won my heart just like my dear friends and workplace did over the summer. Contrary to what some may think, I love baseball! I’ve been a fan since I was kid because let’s face it – we used to have a pretty stellar roster. Even more, I love eating at games (pretty much any type of event though) and now that I’m of age, I can also enjoy the dranks.

I am so thrilled this year for the possibility of attending even more games with my friends and that is something that is getting me a little bit more excited for spring/summer. The Mariners kick off the season this Monday against Oakland and while they won’t be at Safeco Field for their first game, the festivities are still on. Safeco Field will have an open house celebration that is FREE (admission and parking) and allows guests to watch the game on their new giant HD video board, which is the largest video screen housed of any ballpark in the Major League Baseball. Game starts at 7!

So very tempted to partake in this…
