Anthropologie | Palo Alto

The new Anthropologie opened at Stanford Shopping Center this past winter and it was an event. The experience was both magical, stunning, and a little overwhelming. The store is clearly an upgrade from its last location on Alma because instead of only being one floor, it is two and massive. I had wanted to visit the store when it first opened, but instead waited until I was invited to their bridal event at BHLDN and brought Elisa with me. We spent nearly three hours there discovering every nook and cranny and not leaving any candle un-sniffed. At the end, we capped it off with dinner at Terrain, which was beautiful, but a little bit $$$. You’re going to love the photos though!

Bay Area Eats: Tin Pot

screen-shot-2017-02-07-at-8-19-16-pm

My favorite ice cream shop down here likes to entertain me sometimes. They do this really cute thing for kids where they add these edible eyes and carve out a mini mouth. The eyes don’t taste very good (not surprising there) but these make for such cute photo opps. I absolutely adore Tin Pot. Is it embarrassing to share that sometimes when we have a craving for ice cream, we’ll drive the 30 minutes for it? I don’t think so!

A Geometric Mall

We don’t know where this stance even came from because we’ve never done anything like it before! We’re excited to post this photo because of what’s coming next! I went to the Stanford Shopping Center after work one day because after seeing a top on Instagram over the weekend, I decided that I absolutely needed to have it. Lucky for me, it was in stock at Brandy Melville. You know how sometimes you see something online or on someone else and it looks great, but on you, it kind of flops? We had one of those moments. But then we also rejected that idea in our heads and just went for it! I was headed to LA the following weekend and having a white off-the-shoulder top was everything to us. The Stanford Shopping Center is a basic outdoor mall, but it has some good gems for where you can photograph. Since I was wearing all black, I needed a neutral background, but these geometric planters were just enough to make it a little extra. Next up? Our trip to LA – this was one of my favorite trips this year, but mostly because we got to take a lot of beautiful shots around the city.

Currently Craving:

This googly eyed sundae from Tin Pot – “Sunday Breakfast” featuring: salted butterscotch & maple ice cream, salted caramel sauce & waffle cone crunch. Maybe tomorrow on my list of to-do’s!

(The hunger pains are getting worse maybe)

The Weekend: 5 Things

Caturday

So remember how two days ago I said that I would just do a montly roundup of photos? Well, I’ve got this thing about inconsistency… Actually, I found some extra time to do one of these posts this weekend so I thought I’d just do while it was still relevant and fresh as opposed to waiting till the end of the month. Let’s just say this will vary on a case-by-case basis and call it good.

This past weekend was Caturday at Dolores Park and a few of my co-workers were going so I thought I would just tag along! I wish I loved cats…but let’s just be real here – I’m much more partial to babies and kids than household pets. I figured that if I was going to attend this thing though, I was going to get really into it and the only way to do that was to have someone let me “Simba” their cat. Mission accomplished. Have you ever seen me look this happy?!

West Coast Touring

It is good to be home. This past month while I was away from Yow Yow! I was back and forth between the Bay Area and Phoenix, Pasadena, and Seattle. I used to always wonder what it was like to be on tour and now I feel like I’m finally getting a small taste of it. I went through five airports, went through security six times, met hundreds of people and ate amazing meals. I am tired. I am also very grateful that I had opportunities to spend my weekends traveling always at home. It’s a pretty great place to be! ^^ We were tourists for the day!

The Weekend: Lots of Things!

photo 4

It’s been two weeks since we’ve had one of these posts and so much has happened! I didn’t have time to post last weekend’s highlights so I’m combining it with this lovely holiday weekend. Some of my best girl friends from Seattle flew to see Ash and I for the long weekend and like any vacation we jam packed our days from start to finish. It’s interesting how the trips you plan when you are out of college and “more of an adult” shift from the vacation breaks you had when you were in school. Instead of traveling to cities where you plan on drinking constantly and sleeping in because of your hangovers, you’re waking up at 8:00 and getting your morning started. (Sort of like how the five of us would any day!) Instead of drinking, we put our money towards amazing meals and instead of going to bars, we went wine tasting in Sonoma. So there.

– also don’t those fireworks look great?! They went off Wednesday evening in San Francisco after the Giant’s game and they looked a whole lot better than the ones we tried to watch on 4th of July from this view.

I did my first hike with some co-workers at Rancho San Antonio Open Space last weekend! There really are some gorgeous views here in the Bay Area.

On Sunday afternoon, we caught a free concert from Yuna and Allen Stone at Stern Grove. We had never been over to this area before, but we loved how it was just kind of hidden in this park and large enough to hold a concert and fit THIS many people. It’s definitely one of the prettiest venues I’ve ever been to.

We’ve been watching episodes of this on Netflix.

We got athletic and competitive during our pre 4th of July company picnic with Bubble Soccer.

Happy 4th from the Seattle gang!

Visiting our Ash at Stanford

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Song of the Day

Blood Orange – Champagne Coast

This song is off of the Palo Alto soundtrack and while I didn’t love it at first, it has definitely grown on me. Has anyone seen the film yet? It’s the next one to check off on my list.

5 Things: The Weekend

1. We kicked off the weekend with a company celebration and a whole lot of love! Drinks and snacks at Reposado in Palo Alto was an event not to be missed. I’m personally pretty fond of the red and white sangria.

2. We missed brunch on Saturday and instead opted for a late lunch at Cascal on Castro Street in Mountain View. I’d never eaten here before, but have received countless recommendations to go here because of their tapas. Since I get bored of food easily, small bites go over well with me. I ordered the corn soup and scallops. The corn soup pictured above isn’t what I actually ordered because I had forgotten to take a picture. All you have to know is that it was the sweetest and best tasting corn soup that I have ever had. I can say this because I’ve sampled many. In tis case though, I really wish I would’ve gone for the bowl – the cup was just too little!

housewarming

3. Sheila hosted a housewarming party at her new humble abode yesterday where she crafted up a storm of goodies including homemade chocolate ice cream and cookies and cream marshmallows.

4. I got made fun of this weekend for the job I did on my nails. I actually hate getting them done so I prefer to do them myself, but that usually means that they end up getting chipped within 5 minutes, have bubbles forming underneath the polish, and get onto my skin. I found myself in a Rite Aid a couple of weeks ago picking up other things, but out of the corner of my eye, felt the urge to purchase myself a bottle of Essie. Jackson’s hand is just here for the cameo.

west elm

5. After the housewarming, we decided to stop by West Elm. I wasn’t in dire need of anything, but there was no way I could walk out of the store without purchasing something. I snagged myself another pillow and pillowcase along with two extra towels to add to my collection. You can never have enough? I’m also not very good at taking care of succulents so I made sure not to buy one from my home, but they still looked good enough for a photo.
