Women – It’s Time To Stop Apologizing

[youtube=http://youtu.be/rzL-vdQ3ObA]

Pantene released a new video today that is sure to go viral and is a strong follow-up to their previous video about labels. In the new video, the brand urges women to stop apologizing for things that happen in our every day lives that don’t require an apology at all. It’s a powerful message and one that is so relatable to women in this day and age. I hate to admit this, but I am totally one of those women and it’s a bad habit that I’ve been trying to shake. I find myself apologizing when I’m about to make a suggestion or when I want to clarify on a detail when what I should be doing is just speaking – no apology needed. Someone close to me the other day recognized that I was apologizing for something kind of silly and asked me why I was apologizing to begin with and that I needed to stop apologizing. And you know how I responded? With another “sorry.”

No it’s not easy to kick the habit to the curb, but maybe we can all help each other. I’m really glad that Pantene has decided to address this issue and I hope it gets the attention that it deserves.

Pantene | Labels Against Women Advertisement

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOjNcZvwjxI]

This Pantene commercial from the Philippines sparked up quite the buzz yesterday and has even gone viral because of Sheryl Sandberg’s (Facebook COO) tweet about it. Though this advertisement is from a beauty product, it’s sort of speaking volumes as to how labels are being used in the work environment and how men and women can behave the same way, but still be labeled as different things. Why is a male leader called a boss while a female is considered bossy? The commercial brings up several comparisons and that’s why it is such a powerful watch.

Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!

Pretty Little Liars Throwback

The summer premiere begins at 8PM and I cannot wait! And to prepare myself, I am holed up in one place watching the marathon until then. To celebrate the premiere, this post is dedicated to the lovely Pretty Little Liars and what they all were doing before they were cast in the hit show.

First off, today is Lucy Hale’s 22nd birthday! Before she was cast as the hip and artsy Aria, Lucy was dating Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie. She was also in the canceled show Privileged, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and performed as a young pre-teen on American Juniors.

Troian didn’t have too many notable roles before Pretty Little Liars, but she was in Billboard Dad with the Olsen twins!

Before Pretty Little Liars, I used to get Ashley Benson mixed up with Taylor Momsen – these days that won’t be a problem. Ashley played a mean girl in Lifetime’s Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal and a nice girl in one of the Bring It On movies, but I prefer her as the HBIC.

Shay Mitchell first breakout role was being cast as Emily Fields on Pretty Little Liars. There aren’t too many pictures of her from back in the day, but she has had a complete transformation since her first days on the set and is now a spokesperson for a line by Pantene.
