Zoe Kravitz for Elle

We haven’t shared a cover shoot in some time, but we would if everything Zoe was wearing in it was stunning. We’d like to see more of this in 2020 and more of Zoe in films and television.

This dress is amazing; we need it.

A Collection Part 56

Somehow we’ve really nailed the timing of these posts and every time we’re due for one it’s right around New Year’s! But if I’m being honest, the New Year is when I’m feeling my most creative and inspired. These photographs represent that and my current state of feelings. I can’t believe this is the 56th post for “A Collection!” It’s not a significant number by any means; I’m just amazed we’ve had this many.

I love going back and visiting A Collection 1-10 or 10-20 because even those represent a much different time than how I feel presently. In a way, these happen to be my own personal journals, but written in the form of other people’s photos.

May your new year and new decade be full of life, simplicity, and joy.

Holiday Gift Guide 2019

[Google Pixelbook Go] – $849

I’m not sure how we were able to start this gift guide before Thanksgiving this year, but it seems as if everyone had the same idea! The guides are out and it’s exciting to see what made the list. This past quarter, I’ve tried my hardest to be a bit more financially focused. In years prior, I’ve never had a budget when considering gifts for my family, but this year it’s at the top of my to do list. Finding the perfect gift for every family member is key, but if I did a bit of research on prices and deals, I’d also be doing myself a favor too. There’s no reason why we can’t have both, right? This year’s guide is covering gifts across all areas and at different price points:

[VSCO Annual Subscription] – $19.99

A Collection Part 55

It seems like these posts always get worked on when I have chunks of time to carve out for myself. They are the ones that I want to be the most thoughtful about. So if I’m stressed because of a deadline or under pressure, it’s not a good time. However, it’s moments like these where I do feel a bit of stress, but it’s these images that put me at ease. I read somewhere recently that when you have anxiety at work, there are a few things to remedy it. You can count or you can start listing things in a category. Anything that takes your mind off of what it is that causes you stress for a bit does the job. For me, it’s these types of images. They are the ones that spark whimsey, creativity, or a different perspective. What is it for you all that helps get you out of a rut like mine?

Break/Fast

I’m fast to admit that breakfast is not a part of my daily routine on the weekdays. I often wonder actually if that impacts my work or how focused I am in the morning not having anything in my stomach. On the weekends though, I live for brunch and feel spoiled by my options in San Francisco. Since breakfast is one of my favorite meals, [Tessa Dóniga]’s take on how breakfast is broken spoke to me. Here are some of my favorites that I wanted to highlight:

Karen Jerzyk’s Lonely Astronaut Series

There was a point in time where that space helmet on Amazon was a very cool thing to own. Now when I see it in my home, it’s just a reminder of the other identity that Veronica and I had created for myself. This photo series by Karen Jerzyk makes me feel seen! If we would have continued on with Space Girl for a few more years, we probably could have reached this level of cool! But since we didn’t, this post is all about our appreciation for Jerzyk.

A Collection Part 54

For me, birthdays can act as complete shifts in your life. It was decided that this year, I wouldn’t celebrate the way I normally would and opt for smaller gatherings. The morning after last weekend’s wedding, my friends and I seemed to all decide that we were going to change our perspectives on how we had been “doing life.” In my day-to-day, my weekdays are now packed with activities every night while my weekends are seemingly quite open.

I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t it worse to go out and have a night of drinking during the work week? Yes, it’s completely irresponsible, but I don’t make the rules here! I will say, that it does feel great to wake up in the morning on the weekends without a hangover and with a complete and clear mind to tackle the day. It also means I can make it to my 11AM workout class without any regrets.

This moment right now is not in balance, but I have some high hopes that we’ll be able to get there. Eventually.

Justin and Hailey Bieber x Vogue

Like the rest of the world, I was completely shocked when this cover story came out. It’s no secret that Justin and Hailey have been together for some time now so this wasn’t breaking news. How they ended up together after a whirlwind romance though was. It felt like we were in this ongoing back and forth between Justin and Selena for years. Then out of nowhere, Hailey swooped in to become his wife. While their romance seemed fast, they’ve actually known each other for years. To be honest, we don’t know that much about her. She isn’t quite the media star that we know other celebrities to be. And while she does come from a famous family, Hailey is quite elusive. It has actually served her well! It makes us think that there must be something pretty special about her if she can tame down a firecracker like Justin.

The cover and shoot is shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz and highlights what life with the Biebers are really like. I found their photoshoot to be quite endearing actually.

Is it just me or does this photo feel a little bit out of place than the rest? It’s candid sure, but not the best of the both of them.
