Katie’s Favorites of 2012

Favorite Style Icon: Taylor Swift

T. Swift has seriously stepped her game in 2012. Yes, she’s still sticking to the neutral colored dresses – but hey! That’s okay. It works for her. Taylor Swift is really just doing all the right things when it comes to her style these days and it helps that there are a handful of fabulous designers throwing their pieces at her. It’s awesome. I, of course, am jealous.

Runner Up: Michelle Obama / Kate Middleton

White People Mourning Romney

I can’t believe a site like this exists. It is both amusing and alarming at the same time. I can’t help but also wonder what the responses would have been like if Mitt Romney had won and President Obama had lost.

Regardless, HAYYY still a pretty funny Tumblr.

The Obama Family: Then and Now

photo cred | Hello Magazine

It is hard to believe that the first term has already flown by. I don’t want to get too much into my political views here on Yow Yow, but I will say three words about the results: I was thrilled.

I am just glad to say that this time around I felt not only more informed, but more confident in my decisions and what exactly I was expressing my voice on.

But this post isn’t about this. This post is about the Obama ladies – Michelle, Malia and Sasha. These three women are becoming style icons. Seriously, I wish I looked that good and dressed that well at Malia’s age. I didn’t. Her outfit last night was something I absolutely needed to have in my closet. And also – I think we’ve all heard by now about how the fashion industry has publicly dismissed Ann Romney and pretty much only supported Michelle Obama during the campaigning season.

These two girls have grown up so much. I can’t wait to see how their style continues to evolve over the next four years and to see who will be designing Malia’s prom dress. Oh yeah. You know that’s coming.

In Things I Am Disappointed About Today…

Why did no one tell me about Molly Moon’s exclusive  Baracky Road ice cream?!

Is this punishment for no longer living in Capitol Hill because I feel like it is. Tomorrow’s the last day and I am nowhere near a Molly Moon’s. A bellini will have to do.

Tomorrow. Vote.

But seriously, if you’re waiting until tomorrow to vote – then I really don’t know what to say. Four years ago when the results came out, I was the only freshman that did not finish her reading and thus was therefore forced to stay in my residence hall to read all these pages while the rest of Capitol Hill was out celebrating and tearing up the streets.

This year, I’m hoping for another win and this time, I will not be studying.

Voting is important. Have a say and expressing your voice is important. There are always some parts of the election that we feel we cannot make a difference in for fear of being too small, but there are also other issues on the ballot this year that we can impact as well.

This lil’ cat was found on the Obama campaign page. Those guys have such a great sense of humor over there…

On My Newsfeed…

Every now and then, I stumble across something on my newsfeed that is just too good to not share. When the debates come ’round, you can always expect the lolz.
