Oscars 2020 Red Carpet

Regina King in Versace

It’s the last award show of the season! This year more than ever, it felt like it has flown by. I’m really excited to share these looks this evening though because we always expect to save the best for last. If I’m being honest, this last award show coinciding with the start of Fashion Week has felt like a lot. We’re a little bit “fashioned” out over here, but it just means that we won’t be returning back to this season again for a whole ‘nother year. Let’s make it a good one and end on a solid note.

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet

Liza Koshy in Balmain

I had to look up the “Camp” theme several times to figure out what it truly meant. I’m still not quite sure if I understand the definition of it. My takeaway is that it’s pink, tulle, and crowns and we do not hate it. In all honesty, I’m a huge fan of the pink carpet and I loved many of the looks from the evening. However, I will say that this year was the most extravagant. What I loved about previous years was how wearable these looks have been and instead it’s turned into a little bit more of a spectacle than I would have liked. Maybe that’s what the point of the Met Gala is. It’s supposed to be a showcase of whimsey and imagination and if that’s the. case then I will get on board next year, but for now I want to hold onto what I thought made this event on the first Monday in May every year so special.

2019 Oscars Red Carpet

Constance Wu in Versace

The award show has only just begun, but we decided to get a head start on our post. There are so many standout looks this year and a few surprises. I found myself falling in love with a look worn by an actress who has a history of never having looks that impress me. Anything can happen! This year, the awards show is without a host, but we honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference. Here are the looks from this evening and I’ll be sure to indicate my favorites!

2019 Golden Globes Red Carpet

Our host and new Golden Globe winner, Sandra Oh, in Atelier Versace

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post all day, but I usually have to wait until the end of the show for all of the photos to come through. This year’s Golden Globes is special to me. As I get older, I have the opportunity to watch more of the films and shows being nominated than when I was a kid. I also am able to comprehend more of it. There are quite a few things that I’m particularly excited about this year. Sandra Oh was nominated and won and co-hosted the evening. Crazy Rich Asians was nominated and while they didn’t win, the nomination is huge. Lastly, the outfits on the red carpet were outstanding. As I was watching the red carpet today, I already knew it was going to be hard to choose just five best looks for later.

Joanna Newsom wearing Rodarte with husband Golden Globe co-host Andy Samberg in Brunello Cucinelli

Jodie Comer in Ralph & Russo. Maybe my most favorite villain ever.

2017 Met Gala Red Carpet

I wanted so badly to get home early Monday evening so that I could have this post ready in time for Tuesday morning as a recap, but of course, we stayed at work a little bit later that night. The good thing about writing this post now though is that I feel like I’m not under a time crunch and I can really take my time with it.

Bee Shaffer is not exactly “in” the fashion world, but her mother is Anna Wintour and every year she continues to stun. This was one of my favorite looks from the evening. Here she is wearing Alexander McQueen with her fiance Francesco Carrozzini. #powercouple

Buster’s Mal Heart

Since we have a serious crush on Rami Malek, we’ll pretty much watch anything he’s in. I’m actually very excited about this career and where he’s headed. Upon watching the trailer, it’s easy to get stuck in that thought that he’s being pigeon-holed into the same character he is in Mr. Robot, but the movie trailer still has me very curious. I’m looking forward to seeing his transformation as what we believe to be as him being a normal family man turned into fugitive.

Malek as a hard-working family man named Jonah who seems burned out by his life. During one of his shifts as a nighttime hotel concierge, he meets a conspiracy theorist named Brown (played by DJ Qualls). A series of clips showcases Jonah battling with his psyche as he evades the police by hiding out in remote areas. We eventually find him alone on a mountaintop, but the details leading up to the scene are vague. Watch the trailer above and catch Buster’s Mal Heart, written and directed by Sarah Adina Smith, in select theaters April 28.
