Seattle’s Summer

screen-shot-2017-01-06-at-9-41-04-pm

Whenever I return home, I never feel like I have enough time. In a perfect world, I would spend every summer in Seattle and then elsewhere for the other seasons! I spent a week this past June like I always do and we’re now sharing some of the photos from our trip. If some of these look familiar to you (because you’ve seen these shots before) it’s because I basically will do the same kind of thing on every trip. We know what we like, obviously! Now if only we could get back there more often…

^^ I will tolerate sushi in the Bay Area, but we all know that it doesn’t exactly compare to Seattle. And even though my go-to place looks like a club inside, the food is 100. This is at Wasabi on 2nd Ave!

My Recent Visit To Room & Board

1

Readers – remember when I told you I attended the opening of Room & Board at Uvillage back in October and I loved it? Well, yesterday evening I was invited back for a private tour to check out their latest collection and I was blown away by the history, attention to detail, and the kind of care the company provides to their customers. What I love about Room & Board is that their pieces mix both modern and comfort effortlessly.

The tour took us into every room and aspect of Room & Board including an introduction to their most beautiful rugs, through their mattress room, an adventure into the kids’ room, their design center, and my favorite – the menswear room pictured above. I am not sure whether they get their mattresses and rugs cleaned by a professional Carpet Cleaning firm or prefer to do it in-house, but the condition they were in, was optimal. However, nothing was left uncovered during the tour and it really gave me the chance to understand Room & Board’s values and culture.

The showroom is magnificent and if you have the chance or are in the vicinity of one across the country, then you should definitely take the time to check it out. For those of you who cannot, their website is such a close second! The details for every piece are kind of amazing and what’s even better is that if you want to customize a piece, you have the freedom to do so! Our tour guide Chelsey demonstrated how one could customize a cabinet online and it was as my best friend Jeanette described, “magic!” Right after we customized a cabinet, we were shown one sitting around the corner in the showroom IN REAL LIFE. Though I may not have the moneys to fund my own customized Room & Board home just yet, I know that this is one place that I will look to when I am ready.

Thank you Room & Board for such a wonderful tour and evening!

Welcome to Seattle, Room & Board

The invitation for Room & Board’s opening party could not have come at a better time. It seems that redecorating and furniture purchasing have been on my mind a lot lately and after stepping foot inside University Village’s newest furniture store, I’ve decided that I want just about everything.

Now we haven’t been to too many events, but as of late – I’ve gotta say that this was my favorite! Room & Board was gorgeous. The most beautiful pieces were highlighted throughout the store and I had a fabulous time with Tori and Veronica. Two words. Open Bar. Four more words. Twice in one week! Delectable appetizers were provided by Herban Feast and the entertainment provided by a special performance featuring BLIND PILOT! Tori and Veronica have been telling me about this band for nearly a year especially while we were searching for bands for Quadstock, but this was my first time listening to them and they left quite the impression. With all of these things going on, it was quite difficult to take our eyes off of the furniture. The modern look and design of it all was impressive. Did you know that 90% of Room & Board’s furniture is made by American craftspeople? Room & Board has been helping customers find furniture and accessories to suit their living style since 1980 and now, they have come to take over Seattle in 2012.

It’s time to start shopping! Start making your dream wishlist here.

Thank you so much to Gruman & Nicoll for inviting me.

Room & Board Invitation

We’ve got a busy week here for Yow Yow! It’s time to celebrate both City Arts Fest and the grand opening celebration for University Village’s new modern furniture store, Room & Board. Reminds you of college, doesn’t it? Except the designs are phenomenal and I can tell you right now that it is nothing like the dorm furniture you know of. These are the types of pieces that I can’t wait to furnish my new home in so this is invitation is coming at a perfect time!

Along with my invitation today came a signature Pendleton blanket – the Rainier National Park – the perfect addition to any home. Thank you all for the wonderful gift!

Can’t wait for the party!

It Was A Good Day

It’s still pretty early in the month y’all, but let me just say…October is turning out to be pretty amazing! While it can be difficult at times to juggle both my day job as a recruiter and my evening job as a blogger, I am very fortunate that what I do in my profession allows me to have the best of the both worlds. I really do feel like like I’m living a double life, but I’m living a life that I absolutely love and enjoy. I wanted to share some exciting news with you all!

Yow Yow! is headed into it’s fourth year this coming January and to this day I am still amazed at all of the readers and the support. You’ve allowed me to do something that I love and to express something that is very much a part of me (just not all of me!) I’m excited to announce that I will be covering City Arts Fest in a couple weeks for the first time ever! I haven’t exactly decided which shows I will be attending just yet, but I am grateful to have been provided an all access wristband by the organizers. Additionally, I will be attending the opening party for University Village’s new Room & Board store for modern furniture…the same week. Busy girl over here. I’ll be posting coverage on the blog and live tweeting of course!
