On weekdays, my brain is so fried from work that I can’t muster anything more than posting a YouTube video. You’re in luck though; this is a great one and one of my favorite carpool karaoke’s EVER.
Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein
*swoon* oh my gosh, isn’t she a vision? I was debating between using Saoirse or Alicia for the first photo of this post, but when it came down to it, I had to pick this one. The sequins, the Emerald green and the s/o to her Irish heritage is absolutely perfect. This is the perfect look for the nominated actress.
I knew before I watched this that this was going to be amazing. John Legend was always my first love before Sam Smith, but the two of them together? Stop it.
John Legend makes this song 10x better.
I actually forgot to mention that I got to see Sam Smith in concert last month with Francis very very last minute and it was pretty much the coolest thing ever. I thought “Lay Me Down” was going to have me in tears, but I kept it together. The other people around me didn’t though so there’s that.
In things that I’ve been listening to since it was released. I feel like Kevin and I have been waiting for this Sam Smith album FOREVER. And I say that because remember when I first posted about Sam Smith and it was just a very simple acoustic performance of his song “Latch” that I found in my Pinterest feed? That was back in May of 2013 and now you can’t go anywhere without anyone not knowing his name. The album is packed full of songs that I can’t get enough of listening to, but I’m sure I’m not telling you anything that you haven’t heard before. If you haven’t gotten the chance to listen to the full album – well here ya go! Enjoy!
I don’t think I could ever get tired of listening to Sam Smith’s voice. Yes, we’ve already featured him as a Song of the Day for Stay With Me and probably a performance of the day, but I don’t care.
I did a poor job of streaming Coachella this year and missed every single performance. I’m very grateful that some of my favorite artists on Twitter are reposting some of their performances though so that I can play catch up. This Disclosure x Sam Smith performance of “Latch” is a song that I never get tired of.
I missed last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live featuring Louis C. K. and Sam Smith so when I saw that YouTube videos had been uploaded of his performance, I had to watch it first thing in the morning. Sam Smith is such a talented musician. I remember listening to him over a year ago and wondering where he would be a year later. It’s wonderful that his music has brought him onto Saturday Night Live. The first single “Stay With Me” isn’t one that I have heard very much. “Lay Me Down” though was my entire early 2013. I remember just listening to the song getting ready in the morning and shouting his lyrics at my computer screen.
You guys, I’m like a really good singer.
It was May of last year when I was first stumbled upon Sam Smith on Pinterest. Seriously though, of all places, this was one of the most unlikely that I would find music inspiration. Someone that I had followed had pinned his acoustic music video of “Latch” and instantly, I fell in love. Shortly after that the Disclosure version came out and everyone was nutting over that, but the stripped down version is so much more romantic and sweet. Yesterday, Sam Smith finally released his EP in the states and the first thing I did was add it to my Spotify. Here it is for all of you looking for something to listen to on this Wednesday!
A couple of months ago, we went through a pretty intense phase of loving Sam Smith. I listened to “Latch” on repeat morning, day, and night. I tweeted out one of his lyrics. Yeah, I can’t believe I did that either. That’s silly. It was like every song that I heard of his was a gift and I kept getting blown away each time. I’ve only listened to “Nirvana” once and I’m not at that point yet. I’m sure had the song come out earlier during that phase, I probably would have been nutting over it.
