Who dis?! We find out that we’re spending a day in Santa Cruz and of course we turned this into a whole outfit thing. In case any of you are wondering, Santa Cruz doesn’t exactly fit that bohemian vibe that we’re attempting here, but that didn’t matter to us, clearly. Over the summer, some of the employees at work wanted to treat our interns out to a fun afternoon in Santa Cruz. I hadn’t been back since winter 2012 so I was pretty excited to spend a hot summer day there. And okay, it’s no Disney Land, but the rides aren’t bad. More importantly, have we mentioned how much we LOVE Skeeball?!

I wasn’t planning on beaching while in Santa Cruz, but this was the perfect outfit for everything else we did that day. Aside from the fact… that we had to take our scarf off during the rollercoaster and my booties got sand in them. Other than that – 100%! I actually haven’t worn this scarf since I had been back in Seattle and even then I had just worn it pretty simply around my neck. Draping it like this was more fun!

It’s way more fun to share your 12 favorite outfits from the year instead of the ones that just flopped, right?! We don’t always get it right, but luckily the shame of an outfit gone wrong usually only lasts a day. #blessed that my coworkers are always there to give me that immediate feedback. On the upside, I love the outfits that I’ve selected as my favorites for the year. We love that some of these outfits are ones that we’ve worn more than once and have recycled with other items from our closet to make them more versatile. And if there’s one thing that we appreciate more this year in these outfits than the ones we ended up hating – it’s that “less really is more.” Thanks Ma.

Take Me There:

It’s odd how much it is starting to feel like spring in California. It is January and already it is appropriate to sit outside for lunch here in the Bay and I can’t say that I hate it! I’ve only been to Santa Cruz once before, but I’m itching to make another trip and yes, I definitely want to ride on the gondola. Does anyone know how? If so, I’d like to know. Santa Cruz is such a majestic city to me. I’m not sure why I wanted to use that word to describe it, but I find it to be really very pretty. The last time I went there, I watched a bunch of surfers which wasn’t all that exciting to me because I don’t surf, myself, but it’s a cute little beach town and you wouldn’t find anything like it in the Pacific Northwest.

Happy New Year!

santa cruz

Welcome to 2013 y’all!

Your girl is back.

I hope all of you had a wonderful and safe holidays this season. I spent the past four days adventuring in the bay area and for the first time ever – celebrating New Year’s Eve in another city – San Francisco! I’ve always loved the area and have been very fortunate this year to have visited three times. It reminds me so much of Seattle, but is also so different and unique at thee same time that I am fully aware that it is just nothing like home.

Boy took me to see Santa Cruz this time around and I loved the beachy vibe that kind of reminded me of a Southern California city. Along the trip, we traveled around San Jose, had a shopping excursion, AND had In N’ Out – my favorite. it was nice to have a little getaway, but I am so happy to return to the comfort of my own home and to be blogging in my office – the corner of my sectional with my Pendleton blanket.

While I was gone, I happened to miss that Kim Kardash and Kanye got pregnant! Thanks Jeanette  for informing me! I’ve got the best friends looking out for me while I am disconnected.
