Marshawn’s Pepsi Commercial

https://youtu.be/jzTCPx_fsPs

I had a massive giggle fit after watching this. For my 2 year work anniversary, my manager promised and purchased me a Marshawn fathead to go up on our wall. This was a very hard thing for her to do given that she’s a hardcore 49er’s fan. Meh. But she says she likes Marshawn so this was okay.

#GoHawks! Can’t wait for the game today!

#SeahawksMeetRachel

Over dinner tonight, I sat with my co-worker Emily discussing comparisons between Instagram and Twitter. I remember telling her that I felt a sense of urgency to always make sure that I was caught up on Instagram because I cared more about it than Twitter. With Twitter, we agreed, that there was just too much noise. There were advertisements, silly re-tweets, and much more volume than we could catch up on. Five hours later and I’m feeling guilty about what I just said. I don’t have time to read my Twitter feed during the day, but I make an effort to catch up with it when I get home and I scroll and I scroll and I scroll until I can’t anymore because I don’t want to miss anything.

Tonight while doing what I do every night, I found myself doing a double take.

Greg Scruggs

Greg Scruggs is our defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks. And Rachel Henley was a childhood friend. Her and I bonded over a weekend together along with 10 other girls from Washington while we shot photos for an issue of a magazine. She was two years younger than me, full of spunk and energy and always laughing. Her and Frankie got the cover out of the 12 girls and I remember being SO jealous. She spent most of her life battling from cancer. Though we weren’t able to keep in touch very much as we grew up, I tried to stay up to date on all of the girls I worked with back then. Social media helps you do that. I was especially happy when this video surfaced two years ago and Rachel was invited to hang out with the Seahawks. Jealous again, but also very proud of the woman that she grew up to be.

This wouldn’t be the first time that I would learn about a friend’s passing through social media, but it doesn’t change anything. Rachel had a whole life ahead of her that was taken too soon, but I know the Seattle community was strong in supporting her and that made her an even stronger fighter. Thank you Greg Scruggs for this incredible post that you wrote about Rachel and letting everyone know what a wonderful young woman she was.

The Way Way Back Home

It’s a weird experience to be coming home for the first time. The city that you once had infinite time in is now limited and there’s a little bit of anxiety surrounding it because you want to do everything you can in that time fame, but you always want some time to yourself. There is really no happy medium. I now know what it’s like though to be on the side of it when my friends from out of town would visit and couldn’t see me every time they were here. I don’t think I have ever taken Seattle for granted, but this visit as well as my visit from Thanksgiving has made me appreciate so many of the little things that I once loved about my hometown.

Driving on I-5 into the city with traffic or no traffic is still one of the most peaceful and calming rides that I would choose to take any day especially when it comes to driving North on 280 to San Francisco. The Space Needle is still the prettiest overrated tourist spot in the city but the surrounding skyline is the absolute best. Capitol Hill is just as cool as I left it. The sushi in Seattle trumps the sushi in San Francisco any day.

It may not be “home” anymore, but it is still very much a part of my life and Yow Yow!

My first night wouldn’t have been complete without a meal from the Nordstrom Cafe with Ashley. Confused by what our meal should be, we opted for a child’s pasta and Creme Brulee. How adult of us. ^^

Sidney Rice Likes Wingstop

Seahawks’ wide receiver Sidney Rice likes his Wingstop. I mean he REALLY likes it. So much in fact that he is deciding to open up 5 more locations around Seattle.

“Wingstop is my favorite restaurant. I travel a lot, and as soon as I land, the first thing I do is find the closest Wingstop.”

According to the official release, two of Rice’s location will open in Kent and Tacoma later on this year. I’m trying to think about what restaurant I would partner with if I could open 5 locations of it in Seattle…Rubio’s. Because they are only in California and Seattle needs better fish tacos.

Today. Sunday.

Readers today is a very big SUNDAY.

I woke up early today to watch my Seahawks play in the playoffs and while it was a great game and a fantastic comeback after the first half, we lost.

Sad day. As soon as the game finished, I had to switch gears and go straight into Golden Globes red carpet mode. I thought I was going to end up missing the show because of a happy hour that I had planned with some friends, but now that it has been rescheduled, I can now watch.

I’m giving a play-by-play of red carpet looks on my Twitter NOW and will be live-tweeting throughout the show.

Additionally, we’ve got a new ep. of Revenge and the premiere of Girls tonight so…there is my Sunday night.

Of course, expect a red carpet roundup post tomorrow!
