Favorite Event of the Year: Capitol Hill Block Party 2011

Two out of three days was just enough to make this festival not only the highlight of my summer, but the most memorable moment of the year. Who can turn down a weekend of great company, amazing live performances, free goodies, front row at Cults, stellar weather and meal breaks at all of my favorite restaurants just outside of the gates? You can’t.

Runner Up: Girl Talk at the Showbox SODO and being on stage!

Out on the Town: 10/10

Mayer Hawthorne is performing with Chromeo tonight at Showbox Sodo along with Sammy Bananas! I’m pretty sure the show’s not sold out yet so you still have a chance of going. Chromeo is fantastic live (no surprises there!) and Mayer Hawthorne is the dreamiest dream boat alive. All of the performers are also extremely talented. If that’s not enough to make you go – then I don’t know what is. Just go. That’s all. You won’t want to miss this.

Doors: 7PM

Seattle Music Makes Them Locals Go Crazy

Early this morning, Death Cab For Cutie announced that they would be playing a benefit show tomorrow at Showbox Sodo and within an hour, all of the $25 tickets were sold out. I contemplated going for a good five minutes until I opted out, but it wasn’t long until there were absolutely no more.

I am amazed that a band can have that kind of effect on people.

Winter Quarter was so two hours ago

Hello post-deprived readers!

I am back.

Here’s a lesson for all of you: Never underestimate winter quarter. You go into it registering for classes that you believe will be “ain’t no thang” because winter is the season of no motivation. Let’s face it. The weather is cold and you don’t want to do anything so you might as well get your easiest classes out of the way. WRONG.

I should have learned by now that after seven quarters of registering, I still suck at puting together schedules.

For the last few weeks, I have been suffering from finals, quizzes, projects, and presentations. I am ecstatic to announce that as of two hours ago, I am officially DONE.

Though winter quarter was more than a mess and a half, there were a few things that I will never forget about this one.

a) my fire ninjas

b) dance marathon

c) accomplishing my number one life goal.

This past Tuesday, while still in the middle of finals week, I attended the Girl Talk show in Seattle. This was my third time seeing him and I HAD to get on stage. For the past three years, I have attempted twice and once even got snubbed by him when he handed his last wristband to the girl with two left feet next to me. On Tuesday, I was trying to go hard in the motha****** paint! My six friends and I danced alongside Gregg Gillis in front of a sold out show of 2000 people at Showbox Sodo in Seattle.  Basically, I’ve accomplished my life goal and I couldn’t be happier. Words cannot even describe how incredible this moment was!

*** Also, I forgot to mention that Girl Talk played two sold out shows in a row with a 21+ being last night. The Stranger’s Josh Bis captured AMAZING photos here

– – The friends I went with on Tuesday evening bought tickets for the show in Portland tonight and managed to make it on stage once again.

AWESOME.
