I’m the type of person that makes [insert number] year plans outside of the normal 4-year college plan. I’m not really sure why I do this. Sometimes the plans slip through the cracks and I abort them, but other times – those goals stay intact. It’s not like I haven’t left some room to wiggle- because I have, but there’s just so much I want to accomplish and if it’s not designated to a certain time period, it may get lost. On top of finishing school and on top of getting into my career, one thing I have always wanted to do for myself is open a boutique or pop-up shop. I’m a little bit weary of boutiques because I think that I would get bored of them after awhile. There’s only so much you can do to expand. A pop-up shop, however, is a shop that only stays open in a space for about a month or so before it up and leaves. It’s the perfect amount of time to leave a shop open and you get a blank canvas that you can do just about anything with.
This past weekend, Sophomore designer Chrissie Miller and her friend Erin Krause opened up their pop-up shop Arts & Leisure in Los Angeles at Space 15 Twenty. They will be showcasing a wide variety of jewelry, books, clothes, and many more from some of New York’s most well-known and underground designers and artists. Check out the shop’s website here.
