Yow Yow! Promo Day

1

We’re baaaaaaack!

Veronica and I spent the (cold!) morning working on a new promo video for Yow Yow and we figured since we had the space helmet and all, why not have a throwback moment? Kevin actually bought this space helmet for me for my birthday so it’s all mine and has no traces of John Conway, paint, or Senior Streak! This is my first time wearing this outfit and I actually debated over the shoes for a couple minutes this morning while getting ready, but opted for these because I knew we’d be walking around town and I wanted something that I would feel comfortable dancing in.

Oh, So You’re On A Campus Tour?

Every time there is a campus tour going on, I happen to be involved in some activity that is not traditional at all for a normal college student. The first time, I played water wars with Veronica on the patio. Last weekend, we were filming a parody of Dollar Shave. This time…I posed in an outfit as Space Girl. The tour then watched me prance around doing various dance moves in the space helmet.

So here’s my justification in all of this. Yes, it’s a little strange, but if you want to understand in one tour what student life in the wild looks like, then this is it. By me behaving this way, you as the prospective student, can come to the realization that your future campus will let you just be who you are. It also says, “Hey, we breed students who do not care about their appearance/behavior in public.” Oh…just me?

Justice or “Just Ice”

Dress // Urban Outfitters

Jacket // Levi’s – Urban Outfitters [borrowed from Steph]

Belt // H&M

Bag // Urban Outfitters

Shoes // Cole Haan [Mom’s]

Our school recently installed a new art piece next to our library and even though it looks like a tower of plastic ice cubes, I can tell the message is so much stronger than that. In the evenings, the ice cubes light up in an array of colors. What purpose that serves, I wouldn’t be able to tell you, but it is visually pleasing. A student in my department had the opportunity to name the piece and she came up with “Justice” or “Just-ice” WHOAAA two names. It is obvious why that was the clear winner.

Easter Monday

Seattle blessed us with yet another sunny day so of course I decided to take advantage of it because who knows how long this will last! Since I was a kid, pink and purple have always been two of my favorite color combinations. I’ve never actually paired these two pieces together until today, but somehow it ended up working out. Since I was worried that the pink and the purple might be a little bit overbearing, I decided to tie it all together with a pair of white denim pants and neutral colored flats borrowed from my mother that now pretty much belong to me.

The Return of Space Girl

WHOA! Space Girl is back y’all! I know I promised to bring back this installment for winter quarter after posting my last one in December, but truth: winter quarter is difficult. With 90% of the days being gray and the fact that my photographer Veronica and I had opposite schedules, Space Girl just wasn’t possible. I am, however, excited to announce that we will be bringing it back slowly this spring quarter and incorporating it more into our weekly routines.

This shoot was shot by my dear friend Bree on a whim! Now, you’re probably scratching your heads wondering why this outfit is featured because a) it’s the most casual uniform that anyone could ever wear and b) because I don’t normally wear these things, but that’s what makes it so perfect. Believe it or not, I actually like casual wear. I grew up being a jeans and a t-shirt kind of girl. I love the basics and being able to dress them up too.

There are plenty of style bloggers out there who love to wear items only once or enjoy wearing outrageous outfits around town that don’t make much sense, but that’s not really me. With this Space Girl post, I wanted to showcase to all of you a more relaxed style out of my closet. Now that we’ve got the “casual” out of the way though and the weather is picking up, you will be seeing some more of my favorite pieces featured!

Space Girl, Y U So Mad?

Alright, everyone! This is the last Space Girl post until school is back in session. I wore this outfit the other day to prep myself for Deck the Hall Ball because it just seemed appropriate. Actually, what I love about this outfit is that every single piece was purchased on sale. Life of a poor college student right? It was also another “blue” day, but I tried to lighten it up as much as I could. The sweater is emerald green and I bought that with the flannel v-neck button dress the other day at the Urban sale. I’ve had the bag for almost a year and it goes with me everywhere. The Free People knee high socks are cream and have some great detail that isn’t shown, but are from Nordstrom Rack. And I purchased these Frye boots for $40 bucks from UO! It’s the best steal I’ve ever found.

That Girl’s Gon’ Run

While I did buy these the other day at Urban Outfitters downtown, this was not the first time that I had ever seen them. I actually tried them on once before and had mixed thoughts. I guess it helped that on Saturday they were half off of the sale price. I’ve always thought of high-waisted pants as being effortlessly classy so it was special for me to own my first pair that weren’t just jeans or black pants. I paired these with my go-to blazer and favorite lace top and justified buying them with the fact that I might wear them in the professional world someday.

Space Girl in the Wild

WHOA! Space Girl wears pants! Even though this is only the fourth shot in the series, Veronica and I have come to the conclusion that me taking on this persona is actually pretty fun. Space Girl can do whatever she wants when she wants. I’ll admit that even at 21, I can still feel a little bit self-conscious about my behavior as a student on campus. Although I say that I don’t care about what anyone thinks since I’m a senior and don’t know many people anymore, there is still a tinge of hesitancy.

Also I’d like to note that unlike every other girl in the world, I’m not a big shoe person. In fact, I rotate pretty much the same four shoes on a daily basis. While other people pick their shoes based on outfits, I base them around the weather that day.

The weather is no longer working in our favor anymore as it makes everything look blue outside. At least it’s not raining though, right?

In Motion

Since today was a grayer day than usual, I thought this outfit was more appropriate. Veronica and I originally wanted to go outside to take this photograph, but out of laziness, we sort of decided on this one last minute instead.

Happy Holidaze

Photographed by Devika P.

This is my favorite part of being at school in December. THE ENORMOUS CHRISTMAS TREE! There wasn’t really any reason for me to be wearing my Christmas sweater vest today, but it was something that I bought last year around this time and I’m pretty much determined to wear it every time the holidays roll around.

I bought this vest for $3 and the details on it are amazing. They’re a huge distraction for me in class.
