Yow Yow’s Top 10 Posts of 2013

This is a pretty healthy mix that I am happy with. This is probably one of my favorite posts to compile every year because I am always so interested in seeing what readers are drawn to the most. I’m not able to get a whole lot of stats from WordPress or the stats that I mainly need, but I’m so thrilled to know that two of our interview posts were a top read this year. Working with both Hollis and Molly was  such a treat!

  1. Meet: Hollis Wong-Wear (Yes, this too is one of my favorite posts!)
  2. 2013 Golden Globe Awards
  3. 5 Reasons Why I Love the Mariners Bearded Cap
  4. Is Ballard Becoming the Next Capitol Hill?
  5. Emma Watson for GQ UK May
  6. U.S. Map of Highest Paid Public Employees in Each State
  7. 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target
  8. The Names of McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets
  9. Meet: Molly Young

Your 2013 Holiday Party Dress

Banana Republic Seamed Ponte Fit and Flare V-Neck Dress – $130

It’s that time of the year! For the first time ever, I’m attending a holiday party for my company and this time – it won’t be in some sketchy dive bar in the middle of nowhere. I can toss that horrible, ugly, and itchy Christmas sweater aside and put on my favorite new dress for the season. Of course, I don’t own one yet, but that’s why we’re on the hunt! I actually helped a co-worker of mine find her dress before I found one and it looks fabulous. Job well done. Now, here are some options for both you and I!

Phillip Lim For Target

Target is a phenomenal retailer. Every time they announce a new collaboration I am floored and truly believe that they can do no wrong. With a list of both fresh and seasoned designers under their roster, Target is proving that they are the retailer that can be versatile for any kind of shopper. One collaboration that I am excited to talk about today is with Phillip Lim. I’ve been a fan of his collections for years and this isn’t news to any of you because I am always posting about him. His anticipated collection with Target will be released in stores on September 15 with prices ranging from $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories.

Here are my favorite looks!

Is there anything Target hasn’t achieved? Capsule collections, collaborations with high-end designers and awesome slushies – all things that have won me over. Now they’ve tugged at another heart string with an in-house bridal collection. Brides-to-be can now shop the four gown collection online at Target.com for some pretty affordable prices ranging from $69.99 to $129.99. Steal, amirite?! Gowns come in sides 2 to 28 and while they are fairly simple, there are many brides looking for just that.

Check out the offerings here.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

Since Phillip Lim has been showing his collections on Style.com, I have been a fan. His pieces are effortless, classic, feminine and everything that I look for as an aging 20-something. Of course, I liked it before then too, but it’s much more applicable now. It was announced this week that Phillip Lim would be next in line to collaborate with Target and it looks like we’ll have the collection in stores beginning September! The collection will include pieces for both men and women and will feature apparel, shoes, bags, and travel accessories.

“Since an early age, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of design evolution,” said Phillip Lim in a release. “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible.”

Prabal Gurung For Target

Every time a new collection is released for Target, I immediately get excited. As much as I love and adore the pieces that come out in the collection, I already know in my head that I will most likely never make my way to a Target location to purchase a piece. In the years that I’ve been writing for Yow Yow and the years that Target has had these collaborations, I have never once called a collaboration piece my own.

This time will be no different, but that doesn’t mean we can’t pick our favorites still, right?

Prabal Gurung has always been one of my favorite designers mainly because his prints are absolutely exquisite and like nothing I’ve ever seen before. For fashion enthusiasts everywhere, this collection is going to be a big deal because it means snagging these prints for the best prices.

Here are my 5 picks:
