An Original And A Cover

[youtube=http://youtu.be/DT9hKvr9sP8]

Earlier this week, an artist that I worked with last year decided to make a small comeback by releasing a new original song and a cover. Working with Taylor was such an incredible experience for me because it allowed little old me to dive head first into something that I didn’t really think I could do. It was uncomfortable at 21 to tell people that I was a booker and a manager for an artist, but at the same time Taylor and I were so proud of what we could offer. Lastly, it allowed me to do something that I absolutely loved. I miss working with music every day and while I haven’t made my return just yet, seeing Taylor getting back into it again is rewarding for me as well.

Please continue to listen to her music and support her. Yow Yow! will always be behind Taylor so you can count on me to post her videos here.

I know I said I would be releasing Taylor’s cover videos on a weekly basis, but this one was just too good to not share with you all! Here is Taylor covering The Beatles’ “Oh Darling.” Enjoy!

And if you’re not a fan of her music page yet, get on the band wagon y’all!

Hello Hard Rock

For those of you who don’t know, I started working with a  songwriter/singer last summer named Taylor Bolibol. I sort of took it on as a new project not knowing where her and I would go with it, but now looking back, it has been an incredible and rewarding experience for the both of us. In the time that we’ve been working together, (about eight months,) Taylor has played numerous shows and released an album! To see her grow as an artist and develop this strong stage presence and confidence is extremely moving. I don’t know if I have ever been more proud of someone, but this is also an accomplishment that I am most proud of.

Last night we both were thrilled that the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle booked Taylor for a show! Check out her cover below of Jessie J’s “Domino,” and if you’d like to hear more from Taylor, feel free to purchase her album on iTunes or Amazon  and visit her Facebook page. We appreciate everyone’s support!

Song of the Day

Michael Kiwanuka – I’m Getting Ready

Congratulations to SoundCloud! They reached 10 million users today!

And in other music related news, Taylor’s album is now available on Amazon here!

It was a little strange to return back to school and routine today after a week of Snowpocalypse 2012, but as always, every day is just a constant reminder that my college days are dwindling. Michael Kiwanuka’s song has sort of put me at ease a little bit and it’s a really nice tune to listen to so late at night.

Five Weekend Favorites

1. Home Sweet Homestead! I love being out of the city as much as I love being in it. This weekend, some friends and I took the first weekend back off by staying here at this lovely place. Believe it or not, I actually embraced the adventurous side in me by trampling through the wooded areas and crossing a stream by walking through it with the Hunters. There is really nothing better than being in such a beautiful place with great company.

2. I’m not sure what it is about a grilled cheese and creamy tomato soup, but this meal always makes me pass out. It’s not exactly the the meal I would want to be eating before tackling pages upon pages of reading…but it is what it is.

3. I have a hard time saying “no” to marathons. Even though I watched the entire “Lying Game” marathon last week, I went for round two on the Soap Network today.

4. Even though today was a little bit of a struggle getting back into the swing of things with school, I secretly enjoy it. I love taking notes. I love reading my management text books and am looking forward to some of the projects we might be having later on in the quarter. I can’t help it – deep down I am slightly nerdy.

5. Last year, I mentioned on Yow Yow! that I had started working with an artist in Seattle and to kick off the new year, Taylor not only performed her first show in 2012 on Friday, but she put out an album! This has been a very exciting time for both of us, but even more for Taylor. I’m so proud of the work she has done and I cannot wait to see what is in store for her in 2012. The album will soon be released on iTunes, Spotify and a number of other outlets and once that happens, I will be sure to write another post about it.

and a bonus…

Scott Disick becomes more and more of a fan favorite with every Kardashian episode being aired. Truth.

Music Spotlight: Taylor Bolibol

I rarely talk about the things that I am directly involved in on this blog, but I thought that I would make an exception for a project that has become pretty important to me. For the last four months, I have been working with a local and talented musician named Taylor Bolibol. I am used to working more closely with venues, but this time, I wanted to take the opportunity to work with an artist. Not only has it been an eye-opening experience for me as I learn how difficult it is from a different perspective, but it has been the most rewarding project I have ever done. It is extremely cool to see Taylor grow and develop as an artist and with every gig and opportunity, we become more and more excited for her future. I was planning on holding off this actual intro post until her album came out, but I thought I would give you a little bit of a sample beforehand and make another announcement when the album is released, which we hope will be soon!

Last night Taylor played a show over in West Seattle and we recorded several of our performances, but we thought her cover of “Moves Like Jagger” was fun so here it is!

To listen to Taylor’s original songs, visit her Facebook page here. If you like what you hear, go ahead and “like it!” Thank you in advance for all of your support!
