Mistakes that MTV’s Teen Moms Have Made that We Won’t

This quarter, the new season of Teen Mom did not make it onto my TV schedule, but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t stayed in the loop about what’s been going on w/ them. Teen Mom Jenelle is the Amber of Season 1! She is definitely the most troublesome out of the group both on television and off with her recent arrest for possession. Don’t get me wrong, I actually enjoyed the first season. Macie will always be a favorite, but at the same time some of these girls are such hot little messes!

Cue Buzzfeed’s post on “9 Lessons I’ve Learned From MTV’s Teen Moms

In case you’re worried about the content in the video above, it’s just Jenelle being … a 17 year-old. This is why we don’t let MTV’s Teen Moms have a YouTube account.

It’s Gary Time

Teen Mom star Gary Shirley is taking advantage of his new found fame and creating a clothing brand out of it. The line of t-shirts called “Gary Time” will each have a printed clock on them for the logo (Flava Flav?) Oh my goodness… raise your hand if you are completely over reality television stars.

MTV drops Music Television

This morning my alarm woke me up to some very disappointing news. MTV was no longer Music Television. They have decided to drop the “music television” from their logo, which used to appear at the very bottom. I think we all thought that would happen sooner or later, but I at least thought that MTV would have tried – given some attempt at least.

Instead they pumped out the Jersey Shore and Teen Mom. While reality television is entertaining, what happened to the intended purpose of MTV. Music. Music videos. Will they still have the MTV Video Music Awards? I mean how are we supposed to know what music videos are out and what nominees we want to win if we can’t view them like we used to on their channel.

Personally, I think this is the wrong direction for MTV to be going in right now especially at a time when music needs their fans and their viewers the most. MTV is giving up. They are onforming and I would hate to see it turn into this trashy channel.

How does it feel to sell out now?

In 2007, Justin Timberlake accepted his award at the MTV Video Music Awards by saying,

“Play more music videos!”

How dare you ignore Justin Timberlake

Teen Mom

MTV already did 16 and Pregnant, but life goes on and the world needs to see into the lives of these young GIRLS who are succeeding and struggling in their first year of motherhood.

Each episode interweaves these stories revealing the wide variety of challenges young mothers can face: marriage, relationships, family support, adoption, finances, graduating high school, starting college, getting a job, and the daunting and exciting step of moving out to create their own families.

Teen Mom premires on December 8

So…MTV is going back to music…when?
