Condé Nast Discontinues Internship Program

The publication that has made Lauren Conrad famous as a Teen Vogue intern has decided to discontinue their internship program. Girls all over the country are crying into their pillows right now. Actually, the internships at Condé Nast are kind of a big deal. Former interns have used it as a launch pad for fashion industry careers and while the program itself has received a bad name in the news after being sued by two former summer interns who claimed to have been paid under minimum wage, there are people who feel like they have received great industry experience.

Current interns will not be affected by this movement and as of right now Condé Nast has declined to comment on the matter.

Eva Chen is Lucky Magazine’s New EIC

photo cred | Street Peeper

I read the best piece of news this morning. One of my favorite fashion journalistic icons Eva Chen, the former Beauty Director at Teen Vogue, has accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief at Lucky Magazine! This is an incredible accomplishment for Chen as she has done wonders for the Beauty department at Teen Vogue and is widely received by her peers and colleagues in the fashion industry. For as long as I had been reading Teen Vogue in both middle school and high school, Eva has always shared the best tips in beauty. We are so excited to see how she will leave her mark on Lucky.

Miss Vogue Debut Issue

photo cred | Fashionista

As expected, our girl Cara D. is gracing the cover of the first issue of Miss Vogue – ie) the UK version of Teen Vogue. Aside from the title, the headlines of this cover look awfully similar to our Teen Vogue. The cover is definitely a throwback to the 90’s and model Cara Delevingne is wearing a pink paillette tank top with matching skirt over a cropped gray tee. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the issue in person and making comparisons to the Teen Vogue I grew up with.

British Vogue to Launch Miss Vogue

This coming May, British Vogue will launch a new sister magazine called Miss Vogue targeted towards a younger audience just like Vogue’s Teen Vogue in the states. Growing up, I was a subscriber of Teen Vogue and now I can’t wait to see how Miss Vogue will turn out. Will it be just like TV or will they branch out and do something completely different? The first issue May/June will hit stands nationwide on May 6th.

Who will be the cover girl? Will there be more Cara D? Probably.

Beauty For Breakfast Pt. 10

teenvogue coach

Nobody loves perfume samples more than me. Seriously, no one. I’ve got this little bet with myself going on right now that I can continue collecting these samples and using them interchangeably until I completely run out and have to buy myself a full sized container of one of these samples. Currently I am using five samples, but luckily for me (just in time for the holidays) Teen Vogue has sent me two new samples for Coach Poppy and Coach Poppy Flower. Happy holidays to meeeeee!

I’ve actually got another sample of the Coach Poppy Flower and it is one of my favorite scents! It is both sweet and feminine and just light enough to not feel bogged down or overwhelming. It’s also a perfect scene if you’re looking to feel a little youthful, but not child like or anything like that. I’m going to see how long I can drag this out for.

I Like Your Style…

In previous “I Like Your Style…” posts, Yow Yow! usually highlighted best dressed celebrities at the moment. This time, we’re switching things up a bit! I’ve been a secret fan of Teen Vogue online editor Naomi Nevitt for quite some time now and every time I see a photograph snapped of her, I instantly become a little bit envious. How does she do it? And also, how can a post-grad like myself who has transitioned into the working world still manage to incorporate trendy pieces into my everyday working girl uniform? Get inspired by Naomi, of course.
