Christina Grimmie Owns The Voice

I wasn’t able to watch the season premiere of The Voice last night because I was too busy wasting my time on The Bachelor. When will I ever learn? It’s tough to choose between the two, but I discuss episodes of The Bachelor with my coworkers sometimes so I have to keep up with it. If it weren’t on though as the same time as The Voice, it would be another story.

I watch The Voice every season. It’s my favorite reality singing competition and I love that people that I used to listen to or smaller known singers are coming out and auditioning for it. Last night, Christina Grimmie appeared on the show and got all 4 chairs to turn around. No surprise there. We’ve been huge fans of Christina’s since 2010 when I first heard her rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” She’s 19 now, but it is clear that her hard work has really paid off. As long as I’ve known her, she’s been a YouTube star and now I’m so excited for her to absolutely kill it on The Voice. After touring with Selena Gomez and performing on numerous shows and at a serious number of events, Christina will finally get to be recognized as an artist on her own.

The great thing about YouTube is that it is sort of like the new “mixtape/demo” you don’t have to send to record labels. There are tons of people scouring YouTube for new talent every day. I’m pretty sure that it could be someone’s job position.

So I found someone today and her name is Christina Grimmie. I actually was directed to her from Selena Gomez’s Twitter. Don’t judge. According to her YouTube page, she’s only 16. I’ve been listening to a lot of YouTube “stars” lately, but there’s aren’t very many that catch my attention for longer than one or two videos. I just watched like six or seven of Christina’s. Also…the girl is already represented by management. Can you believe that?

If Telephone belonged to Britney Spears…

Everyone knows that Lady Gaga almost gave “Telephone” away to Britney Spears. For some reason it didn’t work out and Gaga took it back and made it the hit that it is today.

Apparently this is just a demo…but you get the jist. I wish Britney would at least try to sing. What a let down.

This is a pretty big scandal right now because HOBviously the demo isn’t very good and Queen Spears is not very happy about this getting leaked. Well when the good has been out for some time and then bad is released…generally you’re not gonna get a good response.

Remember Mr. Alex Day? I interviewed him for itsyowyow back in Dec/Jan and recently just caught up on some of his videos that I fell behind in. I watched maybe six in a row…

Anyways, he’s fantastic and I noticed that his interview was actually on the “Top Posts” so I decided to contact him again to find out if he has any updates for us! Let’s hope we hear back from him. Enjoy this video above 🙂

Alright first thoughts HERE:

I watched the video last night with my dear friend Alexis while a million things were running through my mind. Below are my questions and comments.

– Did you know that Lady Gaga originally pened this song for Britney Spears, but she turned it down so Lady Gaga took it and her and Beyonce made it AWESOME.

– Why did the beginning of Telephone look like an old school hip hop video?

– Borderline porn. Maybe?

– Laurie Ann Gibson overhyped that choreography.

– 9 minute and 32 second video. It was more of like a story line, but I sort of hoped that the video was more of a music video and didn’t have so many breaks.

– Everything else, not that shocking. Still a great song.
